Julius Malema says he is not scared of General Mkhwanazi. Police stopped a kidnapping in Katlehong and rescued two victims unharmed. The case started when a security guard at Eastgate Mall reported suspicious activity involving people using someone else’s phone. Police acted quickly and arrested three suspects at the mall. Investigations then led them to a house in Katlehong, where a shootout broke out. One more suspect was arrested, and two illegal firearms with ammunition were recovered. Among those arrested is popular Vaal DJ Spitjo from Sebokeng. The female victim had earlier been hijacked while driving a BMW X3 and was forced to transfer about R180,000. Both victims were found at the house and rescued safely.

[HIJACKING AND KIDNAPPING] Police foiled a kidnapping plot in Katlehong, resulting in the rescue of two victims and the arrest of four suspects, including a popular Vaal DJ Spitjo from Sebokeng. Preliminary report suggests that, information was received from a night-shift security officer at Eastgate Mall regarding suspicious activities involving individuals impersonating another person using her mobile phone. Acting on this intelligence, police initiated a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation which led to the arrest of three suspects at Eastgate Mall. Subsequent investigations directed the police to a safe house in Dikole Section, Katlehong. Upon arrival, an exchange of gunfire ensued. One additional suspect was apprehended at the scene, and two unlicensed firearms with live ammunition were recovered. Two victims, a male and a female, were found at the ‘safe house’ and rescued without injuries. The female victim had earlier been hijacked while driving a navy blue BMW X3 and was subsequently forced to transfer an estimated amount of R180,000 from her bank accounts.
