Why are some individuals very angry and bitter that kind hearted Ugandans have decided to support a teenage girl that was riding a bicycle to school under very a heavy cold downpour. I guess some individuals are naturally bitter. I am actually very shocked😳😳. If you can’t help, at least extend a vote of thanks to those kind and generous enough to support; if you can’t do any of these, just SHUT UP.

My heart melted reading this! Thank you @KwikirizaNova for following up, The young girl will get all the education support she needs. Im willing and ready to pay for school fees and boarding fees for the young girl plus anything she needs for school until she finishes University! When God blesses you, u bless others 💕 I know with the little help rendered to her, she will become a better child for her family and her community.

This brave, resilient, and intelligent young girl is called Angel Blessings Atuhaire. She is 14 years old and currently a Primary Seven pupil at Kengoma Day Primary School in Kabale District. I have just spoken to her and her father, Mr. Nfitumukiza Moses, a boda boda rider in Kabale. Blessings has consistently excelled in her academics and has never performed below the third position in her class. Her father shared that he is not comfortable with her riding herself to school, but the circumstances have left him with no alternative as he leaves home too early to drop the girl at school . He was all emotional on the phone in disbelief if this was true or a dream. I discussed with both of them the possibility of moving her to a boarding school next term or waiting until she joins secondary school. They both agreed that transitioning next term would be the best option, especially since she has not yet registered for PLE at her current school. I advised the father to identify a good boarding primary school within their locality and connect me to the school administration so that the sponsor, @SheilahGashumba, can take it up from there. I have shared all the details with Sheilah. 🙏

Even in Europe a child owning a bicycle is no small thing. The ability to ride one through traffic is on another level and should be celebrated and not a source of pity and shame for a girl this is absolutely phenomenal. Why robe the girl of skill and lessons that will help her beat her peers! I hear of better alternatives like barding school! My foot….If you knew how some of us hate taking children away from parents in the name of boarding school! Online influencers are some…..

It is amazing that there are many GenZs who think that riding a bicycle to school is suffering! I am not sure which population you speak for! The kids who walk to school and save for years to own a bicycle would wonder if you speak for them. In many parts of Uganda a bicycle is still a very special possession. Even in Europe a bicycle is a prized asset for any young person. I saw women cycle in Europe and there was never a problem. What is wrong with us?

To health educators & promoters, epidemiogists, nutritionists & all health professionals, I am really worried. And you too should be. Why? The battle against non- Communicable diseases is far from being won. The dominant but mistaken thinking that being heavy, overweight & obese= being healthy and on the other hand being slim & small-framed = being unhealthy is a serious cause for alarm. To the contrary, a lean body= a strong one 💪. Is this hard to understand? Weight loss can only be worrying if it's unintentional, unexplainable, and most times due to malnutrition or an involuntary matabolic syndrome associated with underlying chronic sickness. BUT if weight loss is intentional & achieved through measures such as dieting or slimming that involve reducing one's total body mass through calorie reduction, increased physical activity, or lifestyle changes its nothing else BUT an act to celebrate. It is one of the best health targets/outcomes every rational & disciplined person should set and aim to achieve. Yes, looking lean or slim may worry some that may not be used with a person's new looks, BUT it is all ok. Obesity has never been a badge of honor! So dear friends sending me messages of "quick recovery"( and especially those of you doing so out of love, not mockery), please take heart , I am not sick. My new looks are intentional. Its well with me & I thank God for all his blessings and mostly the gift of life! Otherwise,Greetings from NALI, our Political MECCA!

Last evening, at the ongoing @NRMOnline leaders’ retreat in Kyankwanzi, we had the honour of being hosted by H.E. @KagutaMuseveni for a bull-roasting event. At the event, the President used the occasion to remind us of the core duty of leadership: to stay grounded among the people. He urged us to understand our constituencies–household by household–identify who is participating in the money economy, support them to improve through government programs, and actively guide communities toward practical, wealth-creating activities. On behalf of my colleagues, I expressed our gratitude to the President for his continued leadership and guidance. I also reaffirmed our commitment, as Members of Parliament, to work together as one system in support of national development. The mandate given to us by the people calls for unity of purpose, not division, as we collectively drive Uganda’s socio-economic transformation. As we approach the conclusion of the retreat, I am inspired by the enthusiasm and readiness of my colleagues to take on this responsibility to serve Ugandans.
