@Lunyfaebo All your counter examples are of leaders of third parties who had to invest a lot of time and energy into creating effective political parties capable of winning. Trump just had to roll down an escalator. It's clearly different. One is easier to hijack than the other.

It's actually insane for a left-wing American to think that their political system is obviously superior to Canada's, and I say this as someone who has called out how internal party politics works in Canada a lot. A figure like Trump can only arise in America's party system!
