IEYDA Raises Concerns Over Alaafin’s Visit to Ilorin Emirate Communities, Urges Respect for Traditional Protocols The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) has expressed concern over the recent visit of the Alaafin of Oyo to communities within the Ilorin Emirate, describing it as a breach of established traditional protocols. In a statement jointly signed by its National President, Alhaji Mohammed Uthman Jagunmo, and National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulfatahi Oloyin and made available to Just Event Online TV, the association alleged that the visit to Shao and Jebba communities in Moro Local Government Area occurred without prior notification or approval from the Emir of Ilorin. IEYDA described the development as a disregard for the authority and position of the Emir of Ilorin, who also serves as Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Emirs, Obas and Chiefs. The group further characterised the visit as an intrusion into the Emirate’s domain, stressing that established customs require due consultation and adherence to protocol before such engagements can take place. According to the association, it could not recall a similar instance where the Emir of Ilorin or any other traditional ruler visited territories under the Alaafin without proper notification, warning that such actions could generate unnecessary tension, particularly in communities with sensitive traditional structures. The association, however, called for calm and urged relevant authorities, including the Kwara State Government led by Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Oyo State Government under Seyi Makinde, and security agencies to intervene and prevent any escalation. IEYDA emphasized the need for mutual respect among traditional institutions, noting that Kwara State and the Ilorin Emirate are historically known for peaceful coexistence. While advocating dialogue and understanding, the group urged the Alaafin to exercise caution in future engagements to avoid actions that could strain inter-community relations. The association reaffirmed its commitment to peace, unity, and stability, adding that it has continued to counsel restraint among youths in the Emirate despite growing concerns. IEYDA called on all stakeholders to act responsibly in the interest of maintaining harmony and preventing avoidable disputes.

No matter the circumstances (zoning or sentiment), @Kwara_APC & @OfficialAPCNg must not settle for a non-sellable candidate in Kwara State. Aside from all other factors needed to be considered, the candidate must be grassrooted, citizen-loving, and a counter force.

JUST IN: President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has been caught on video openly advising Leke Abejide, a key figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to remain in the party and “fight them… scatter them.” In the viral video, Gbajabiamila, while speaking with Abejide, urged him not to abandon the ADC despite ongoing leadership crises and court battles rocking the opposition party. “I know you to be a committed party man. I know you to be a fighter… So please, my charge to you is to stay in that same ADC. Fight them. Scatter them! Hold on to your party, ADC. Do not abandon them. We like what you are doing. Continue,” Gbajabiamila said. He dismissed suggestions that Abejide should leave the ADC, insisting that the party belongs to him since he built it “with your sweat and your money.” “Don’t mind them — the former Governor said that you should come and join… No, no, no. Stay in ADC. Win your election in ADC as you will. Bring Dada Gombe… Those of us in support… Do the right thing. You are a fighter,” he added. Gbajabiamila further encouraged Abejide to fight in court to retain control of the party. The explosive video has sparked massive outrage online, with many accusing the Tinubu administration of actively working to destabilise the opposition ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections. Watch the video in the comment section.

STRATEGY vs SENTIMENT: THE GAME AT HAND FOR KWARA I’ve taken time to critically assess whether bias is clouding my strategic thinking, and after consultation, I can confidently say that bias only accounts for about 5% of my overall position. In analyzing the opposition, it is evident that Bukola Saraki’s presidential ambition in 2031 is heavily reliant on reclaiming Kwara State for the PDP as a base. That is why, in acknowledging the sentiments around Kwara North, the PDP in 2023 fielded a candidate from the region, largely to fulfill all righteousness despite being fully aware that they stood little to no chance of defeating an incumbent governor in a reelection year. That move, in itself, was not about victory, it was about positioning. Now, similar to any chess guru, the next move becomes just as important as the initial setup. It is evident that the PDP will most likely field a candidate from Kwara Central in 2027, and they have been operating on the assumption that the APC will zone to Kwara North. This brings us to the critical question, do you play into their hands, or do you introduce a curveball that finally puts the PDP to rest in Kwara State? At the core of this dilemma, particularly for Kwara North is the choice between prioritizing pseudo representation and pursuing actual scalable development. Beyond the arguments of equity and fairness, one must ask, what is the value of representation if there is no power to distribute? The caliber of candidates within the APC, regardless of region, suggests that zoning has not been firmly institutionalized in Kwara politics. This then presents a strategic choice, do you field your strongest possible team, or do you take a sentimental but risky gamble? Is it better to chase higher odds driven by sentiment, or the surest odds grounded in strategy? Regardless of the eventual outcome, one thing remains consistent, the APC is a disciplined party that will rally behind its eventual candidate. The real task, therefore, is not just identifying sentiment, but determining which sentiment is loudest and more importantly, which sentiment or strategy actually guarantees victory. @OpeBee Danladi ( the preferred candidate of the Governor) is not a sellable candidate for the APC in the state. It's going to be a workover for the opposition(provided they also come up with a credible candidate), if Danladi Is being chosen as the flagbearer

INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION PRESS STATEMENT INEC CHAIRMAN HAS NO ACCOUNT ON X, DISREGARD PARTISAN FABRICATIONS The attention of the Office of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been drawn to a malicious and coordinated campaign of calumny circulating on social media. The false claim alleges that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, has, in the past, endorsed a partisan post on the platform X (formerly Twitter). The Commission wishes to state categorically that this allegation is entirely baseless, a total fabrication, and a figment of the imagination of its purveyors. For the avoidance of doubt, the INEC Chairman does not own or operate any personal account on X. He has at no time engaged in partisan commentary, nor has he ever associated himself with any political leaning or activity in his private or public capacity. This contrived X post is a desperate attempt to impugn the integrity and neutrality of the Chairman at a critical period when the Commission is focused on significant electoral reforms and preparations for upcoming polls. It is a needless distraction designed to stir public distrust in the electoral umpire. Beyond this partisan mischief, the Commission is aware that cybercriminals have been on the prowl, utilising fake social media accounts in the Chairman’s name to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians. We wish to place it on record that several of such fraudulent accounts had been identified and reported to security agencies in the past. This latest fabrication is merely a continuation of a criminal pattern aimed at exploiting the Commission’s profile for illicit gains. The Commission will not fold its arms while the character of its leadership is being assassinated by digital imposters and mischief-makers. We wish to notify the public that we are working in close collaboration with relevant security agencies and cyber-intelligence units to track and identify the individuals or groups behind this identity theft and misinformation. Let it be clearly understood that the Commission will ensure that these imposters face the full wrath of the law. Identity theft and the dissemination of deepfake or forged social media interactions are criminal offenses under the Cybercrimes Act. Those responsible for this mischief will be tracked and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others who believe the digital space is a safe haven for criminality. The general public is hereby urged to disregard this falsehood in its entirety. We will continue to disseminate official information regarding the Commission and the Chairman’s activities only through our verified institutional channels and formal press statements. The Commission remains undeterred and fully committed to its mandate of delivering free, fair, and credible elections for all Nigerians. E-Signed: Adedayo Oketola Chief Press Secretary/Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman Abuja, Nigeria. 10th April, 2026

@egi_nupe I wasn't mincing words when I said Gov AA only focused on Ilorin (a senatorial district) for his developmental projects and governance. The World Bank project "AGILE" was hijacked again to favor a senatorial District more than the others. Rural areas should have been prioritized

There are 16 Local Governments in the State and 3 Senatorial Districts; and in a project to upgrade schools, over 100 schools were carefully selected in the most developed Senatorial District, Kwara Central, without a single school picked from the Senatorial District that is least developed in terms of everything you can think of, yet the most resourceful. But we should keep shut because it is not only the North that is affected but also the South. Well, since those of you in government know better than us, will you be kind enough to tell us: When will it be the turn of other schools in Kwara North and South? or we should look at the next administration to do that, since your days in office are now numbered?
Ibraheem Abdullateef (Egghead)@_ibraheemlateef

This Agile Project is overseen by KWSG/World bank. It is in batches. The targeted schools under it are 800+. No LG is neglected. It is being done in phases. Or what should the South say? You will be required to exert a little effort more on research and awareness about governance in the state than you do on making tweets for healthy engagement to flourish. @egi_nupe
