@TimeTrekFam Old fashioned fly swatters. I keep several around the house in strategic locations so one is readily available when a fly lands.

What are we doing for summer flies in the kitchen? I never really notice flies outside but for some reason every time we grill out, 7-10 flies will make their way inside and bother me for days. I hung one of those gross strips you see in concession stands but so far no takers.

@ravenousreader I want to borrow this to share this with a friend of mine who has faced some rather heavy challenges. Do you mind if I butcher it further?

I’m going to butcher this, but one of my DILs has a saying. It’s tongue in cheek (my mom would’ve loved it)… “My cross is so heavy. I’m obviously one of His strongest soldiers” It’s better than that. But you get the point. Be kind. Everyone’s cross is the heaviest cross.

@moej4prez How truly terrible of them. Now that you know what type of people they really are, you can keep a healthy distance from them (either physical, emotional or both). Pray for them when they come into your mind instead of giving any more thought to what horrible people think of you.

@bethanyshondark @hughhewitt With that in mind, Bethany, can you explain the stunning lack of human compassion & empathy evinced by the Trump-MAGA party? It quite literally numbs the senses. Trump is a pillar of human indecency & has attracted a huge following.

At the playground the other day, I was chatting with a fellow mom, the usual small talk. A few minutes later a woman met her there, and I overheard their conversation and deduced she was a caseworker. The mom told the woman about their struggles with homelessness.

It is Friday, and not just any Friday! Tomorrow we celebrate Independence Day in America! In honor of our nation's 250th birthday, we are going full Revolutionary War for our Friday night outfit. Non Americans are invited to go British for their outfit. What will you be wearing?

@KeturahAbigail Until your post, my feed didn't show me the mommy-wars you mentioned. I've homeschooled & sent children to school; both are work & involve teaching in some capasity. From language & potty training to helping with homework & more, mothering inherently involves teaching.

We really need to reestablish the fact that MOTHERING and TEACHING are two different roles that can sometimes coexist. But there's no need to do both if doing both overwhelms and depletes you.

One thing I've noticed with homeschool moms is they REALLY want to prove to feminists that what moms do is real and valid work, but the same moms will judge other SAHM who send their kids to school, because like, "What are you doing all day if you're not teaching your kids?"

@moej4prez It may have been her attempt at expressing gratitude for your remaining open to life even knowing full well that openess to life leaves us vulnerable to death. Some who want more children never try again because of past heartbreak.💔Some forget that life is stronger than death.✝️

@KristanHawkins Destroying evidence of a crime is illegal in most states. When a girl under the legal age of consent gets pregnant, the "product of conception" contains genetic evidence of both crime & perpetrator. Abortion facilities that destroy evidence & cover up crimes should face charges.

Nobody talks about how abortion can be used to cover up abuse. No child = no evidence. Abusers love abortion.

Given the chart below, if you take 100 liberal men and 100 conservative men: - Liberal fathers produce about 125 children. - Conservative fathers produce about 209 children. If every child kept the same politics as their parents, the next generation would be about: 37% liberal 63% conservative instead of 50/50. Key takeaway: trads with kids need to do everything they can to keep their kids trads - which is the subject of the new book I'm writing as we speak!
Will Tanner@Will_Tanner_1

Fertility collapse is increasingly something that aids the right and is a significant headwind for the left ~80% of kids of conservatives stay on the right, the average rightist has like 4x as many kids as the average progressive, and non-white birth rates are plummeting Making it through the genetic bottleneck the neuroses of modernity have imposed is our duty, and the path to a very different future

@MomInTheHome @secularprolife I read the quote. Plenty of pro choicers choose to keep unwanted pregnancies. only one side is using that to justify outlawing abortions

@secularprolife holy cow. You are actually going there and making the argument removing bodily ownership is a good thing. So much for human rights.

With a heavy heart I ask for your prayers as my beloved mum has been called to her eternal reward. Although my heart is broken, I’m grateful to God for the gift of her life and for the many memorable years we were blessed to have her with us. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. Amen.

@ThymeToBeBorn ??? I remember when you were pro-life. What's with the phrase "need an abortion"?😕Women may need care for difficult pregnancies or miscarriages, support in caring for their children due to life circumstance or just to give mom a break. No woman ever "needs" to choose abortion.

Better of course to be a well integrated multigenerational team, but "my kids don't need anything and would never ask" feels better than my kids need bailed out, need rehab, need a job, need to shower, need to pay child support, need an abortion, etc.

If you have grown children who are "doing ok" then among your peers are women with adult children who they have bailed out, who have massive addictions, who are NEETS, who make ruinous financial decisions, and women who are raising their grandkids because of tragedy or massive family dysfunction in the next generation.

@VitaCatholica Not sure what song/songs they played, but I may agree with your daughter. The melody in one song we've sung at church always reminds me of "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas. I can't remember the song's name & we don't sing it often. Still, feels weird to sing it at church....

@SketchesbyBoze Anyone who says "using big words is ableist" assume people know what the word "ableist" means.

On Threads they’re debating whether using big words is ableist. I’m sick of this anti-intellectualism masquerading as social justice. People are making excuses to avoid having to do anything hard, but at some point you have to grow up and read and learn and challenge yourself.
