Following the leftwing reactions to Platner there's clearly two camps: One has a view that their politicians must also be role models. The other believes their politicians are just tools to cast a vote, character being immaterial as long as the advocacy and votes are there.

Genuine question: how can feminists think Platner was in full control of his behavior if he was blackout drunk, given the feminist doctrine that women aren’t in control of their behavior (they can’t give consent) when they’re drunk?
The issue of moral responsibility in a case like this is a philosophical can of worms. But it’s easier just to say Platner is a rapist and a devil, etc. (The case is stronger that Biden and Trump are intentional, conscious rapists.)
