Donald Trump got the Director of the US Patent and Trade Office to apply for trademarks for the Board of Peace—something it does for no other entity and which is not allowed under federal law. Then he waived the fee for registration. Now he’ll decide whether to grant the application he submitted! Republicans are openly admitting the SAVE Act was constructed to suppress Democratic votes.
Here is the mechanism:
69 million married women who changed their last names will not match their birth certificates and will be automatically flagged and purged from voter rolls.
83% of Americans who registered online, by mail, or at the DMV will be blocked from registering unless they appear in person with a passport.
21 million eligible voters lack easy access to a birth certificate or passport and will be disenfranchised.
Absentee voters must submit a photocopy of citizenship documents every single time they vote by mail.
Election officials face up to 5 years in prison if they register someone without verified documents, creating a powerful incentive to purge rolls aggressively.
This is not about election security. It is systematic voter suppression targeting Democrats, minorities, low-income communities, Native voters, and anyone without a passport.
The SAVE Act functions as a "Secure American Voter Elimination" tool for any voter the GOP does not want to count.
