@EgoDriv Over 90% of civil lawsuits are settled out of court, so yes.. plenty of innocent people settle. And when having the choice to protect their right to a fair criminal trial or forfeit it in a civil case, anyone would settle. The settlement didn't stop criminal proceedings.

@FemCondition This is a frightening suggestion. To remove someone's fundamental right, especially in cases like these,where the mere accusation can ruin entire families. This would mean accused=guilty (which unfortunately is already a fact in some people's heads today)... horrifying.
