Ang Senado mismo ang sumisira sa kanilang institusyon. Imbes na isuko nila nang mapayapa ang isang taong may Warrant of Arrest, ginamit nila ang Senado to evade law enforcement. Trabaho ng Senado na gumawa ng batas, hindi ang labagin ito. Anong klaseng Senate leadership ang unang agenda ay tulungang hindi maaresto ang isang WANTED for crimes against humanity? Ang isang international fugitive? The senate leadership should explain themselves before the widows and orphans of extrajudicial killings. They owe the Filipino people more than livestreams and excuses. This is exactly why Bato should be tried in the ICC. Walang hustisya sa bansang ito para sa mga biktima ng Tokhang. Pati ang Senado, accessory to the crime. Pati sila, kasabwat sa krimen.

@mighty4PH @RepPerci @IntlCrimCourt @HouseofRepsPH @SCPh_PIO Really? @IntlCrimCourt was created to prosecute leaders of weak countries. Did they ever prosecuted the leaders who killed lots of people in Iraq for the false WMD?

Because the issue being raised is not just whether courts exist, but whether they can act independently and without political pressure when powerful officials are involved. The ICC was created exactly for situations where questions are raised about the willingness or ability of local institutions to genuinely investigate alleged crimes. Filing before the ICC does not automatically mean Philippine courts are useless — it means some believe international oversight is necessary to ensure impartial accountability. And local courts are still free to act. In fact, under the principle of complementarity, the ICC steps back if domestic courts are shown to be conducting credible investigations and prosecutions themselves. So the real question is not “why the ICC?” but whether the public truly believes justice can proceed locally without fear, influence, or selective accountability which in this case, we all know it’s moot.

Filipinos work hard every day, follow the law, pay taxes, and struggle just to survive. Seeing a Senator avoid authorities and run from accountability - literally - feels like a slap in the face to ordinary people. For 6 months, there was no action for the public’s problems - But he was still paid his salary by us ordinary citizens. But when it came to protecting one family - The Dutertes - suddenly everything became urgent. If a normal Filipino did this, they would already be arrested. But when powerful people are involved, the rules seem different. Pilipinas, napaka-hirap mo mahalin.
