It's because filmmakers in the '60s. '70s, and '80s wanted to break away from the old technicolor tradition for a more "gritty" and "realistic" medieval aesthetic and so now the misconception is feeding itself as Hollywood shows what people expect to see.

What if I told you that if you look at birth and death records starting in 1990 from only Americans discounting all immigrants including anchor babies that the US population would be 260 million right now? Iranians are absolute degenerates. I used to live in Tbilisi and it was common to see Iranians drunk off their asses, women with their tits spilling out of their blouses, every weekend. Georgia is one of the few countries Iranians can visit without a visa so they all went there to party.
