At approximately 10:15 AM, long-distance buses were prevented from proceeding to the Nairobi CBD at Uthiru. At approximately 10:45 AM, a group of protesters was arrested along Moi Avenue in the CBD. At approximately 11:05 AM, a section of United Opposition leaders and some aggrieved families began marching along Uhuru Highway towards Parliament to lay wreaths. At approximately 11:05 AM, an additional police roadblock was mounted along Magadi Road at the Bangla area. Traffic from Ongata Rongai towards Galleria was affected. At approximately 11:20 AM, police arrested three protesters at the Kencom Bus Stop in the CBD and booked them at Central Police Station. At approximately 11:25 AM, police lobbed tear gas at a United Opposition motorcade along Uhuru Highway as it headed towards Parliament to lay wreaths.
