These majestic animals are not only a symbol of our rich natural heritage but also vital to maintaining healthy ecosystems. Through scientific research, long-term monitoring, and the National Wildlife Census, we gather accurate data on elephant populations, distribution, and threats. This information guides evidence-based conservation strategies and informs policy to combat challenges such as habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict. Every elephant counts – and every data point matters. Sara Mobsite is our new post-doc researcher at @ird_fr. She is specialised is computer vision and her work in the project will focus on developing deep learning models to predict and detect environmental and health challenges impacting the regions of East Africa and the Amazon.

The MOSAIC team has just completed its first field mission in Brazil, to the 2 Amazon study sites. The mission provided an opportunity to meet the project's key stakeholders and gain a better understanding of the current issues and needs of local populations. #OneHealth

One Health is Landscape Health! ACC Director @LWaruingi shares lessons and experiences from the Southern Kenya Landscape resilience work that ACC has done over the years - all toward integrating the health of the environment, people, and animals for improved socio-ecological resilience. The session was held at the National University of Colombia (UNAL) in Leticia. @MosaicIRD is a multi-site project that is mobilising Open Science to co-design solutions to the crucial challenge of Planetary Health. It aims to promote the health of local cross-border populations in East Africa and the Amazon by co-producing data and knowledge on the environment, environmental changes, and their impacts on health. @AmboseliP @aetkenya @Environment_Ke @Min_TourismKE @SciforAfrica
