My CryptoPunk 3609, a piece I’ve held and cherished, was stolen from my wallet four months ago—and I didn’t even realize it until now. I found out when I visited the @cryptopunks website and saw that it was listed for sale. At first, I thought it had to be some mistake because I have never put it up for sale. Confused and concerned, I immediately went to my friend’s office, where I had asked them to securely store my ledger wallet. This is an extremely secure office that deals with funds and implements the highest security standards. Let me explain the security measures: The ledger wallet holding the Punk was stored in a locked safe with a secure code. The safe was inside a room that also required a separate code for entry. The office itself is guarded around the clock. Despite these extreme precautions, when my friend opened the safe, took out the ledger wallet, and connected it, the Punk was gone. It was transferred out of the wallet four months ago without any access to the physical ledger or the secured environment where it was kept. The circumstances strongly suggest this could have been related to a compromise of the seed phrase, but we cannot say for certain at this point.
