@donbrians @adam_kungu The money used to procure vaccines comes from global fund and gates foundation which are available and can sustain the chain for a long period unlike the biological that are badly needed, to me it's a poor decision. The ARV's produced by ciplaQ are prior purchased

@MosesEdgar3 @adam_kungu There is a good side to starting with vaccines - it helps create self sustainability for a country which reduces dependency on other economies. Case in point - if uganda wasnt producing ARVs, after usaid and who cuts, people wd be suffering. Vaccines serve masses

I visited Dei Pharma, a large pharmaceutical and biotech facility located in Matugga along Kampala-Gulu highway. Pleased to learn that the facility sitting on 250 acres intends to produce essential drugs, vaccines, and advanced biological treatments locally, something that will save the country from dependency on imported drugs. #Uganda currently imports more than 85 percent of its medicines. The company is starting with vaccine production, targeting diseases that have long defined public health priorities in Africa. These include polio, measles, tuberculosis, and other immunizable conditions historically referred to as the six killer diseases. In particular, I am excited to learn that the 1.1 billion dollar facility, plans to manufacture affordable treatments for sickle cell disease, cancers, and other conditions that affect us and yet remain largely untreated due to cost barriers. For example, the gene therapies which are currently available in developed countries that cost millions of dollars per dose, placing them far beyond the reach of most patients here. The facility has also established, in Namasagali, a 600-acre cassava processing plant that produces pharmaceutical-grade starch, glucose, maltose, and fructose, all of which are critical inputs in drug and vaccine manufacturing.

@kampalasfinest_ His boss is sanctioned (a diplostod pariah) and can't meet foreign emissaries, so the duty falls to him. Makes me want to ask why the system still hangs onto her when she is a diplomatic liability.

It’s Politics, Stupid. Advising politicians is like advising a woman in love. Logic doesn’t make sense to them. Stopping Bobi wine and AGORA from getting a few dollars here and there is more Important than the economy, it is more important than the National USD Reserves that Bank of Uganda is talking about, It is more important than common sense. And then also the people he is explaining what should be simple undergraduate economics to are S6 leaver’s party graduates. x.com/rkabushenga/st…

I’ve woken in New York to more ‘are you Ok?’ messages than when I broke my hip. Everyone seems to think Arsenal will lose today. I am 100% certain we will win. Not 99%… but 100%. So yes, I’m fine thanks. Go get ‘em, gentlemen. 👊

Our Dear CDF @mkainerugaba, I wish to bring to your notice that Phaneroo Church, which acquired a piece of land in Naguru much later, is now blocking the Uganda Heart Institute from opening an emergency access route to its new facility. This route is critical for saving lives.
