Deferrals have existed for quite some time. The CBA fixed it by setting the value at present day value. Ohtani wouldn’t be making 70M/10 without it.

What people need to understand about the Dodgers is they have positioned themselves as THE premier destination. Ohtani is his own economy. The Dodgers capitalized on that & are now printing money because of it. Players want to win & get paid & get better while doing it. They offer ALL of that. It’s $182MM to Snell & it feels like the Dodgers haven’t even warmed up yet.

I was a member of a union for 20 years and on the other side for 20. LA would have probably lost in arbitration or at minimum they would have made the deferred money part of the spend.
