LAFD is hemorrhaging the 5-8 year studs who we are counting on to become our next generation of captains and chiefs. We spend millions of tax dollars training them up, then they take their loaded task books and flee to OCFA or Ventura County because they didn’t sign up to clean up after vagrants 24/7. If Nithya Raman were serious about fire protection, she’d address the 45,000+ sources of ignition illegally occupying all of our public spaces and causing all these fires. But she won’t. Because she’s not a serious person.

There are 46 vagrant fires every single day in LA…rubbish and encampment fires that destroy property, vehicles, kill pets, spread to vegetation, and compromise infrastructure. That’s 17,000+ fires per year. Until you clear vagrants from the streets, don’t pretend you’re serious about mitigating fire threats.

@amyforsandiego @ToddGloria We just had the same thing done in FairfieldCa, on a government grant turned a 2 lane main rd to one lane with a bike lane and wider sidewalks that mainly homeless people use. Makes me wonder if there is some government kick back for the cities.

San Diego Mayor @ToddGloria is cutting public bathrooms but somehow still has money to install more bike lanes. These new lanes just turned a major 2 lane road into a one lane traffic nightmare so bicycles can have more space than cars! This is what Democrat leadership looks like in San Diego. While small I have be learning to grow my own food through regenerative farming in my backyard yard. Increased nutritional density and now that you mention the PFAS. Fruits & vegetables likely account for a majority of people's dietary microplastic and PFAS intake. What’s frustrating is that this isn’t something you can just rinse off. In many cases, the contamination appears to be taken up into the food itself. Organic may reduce some of that exposure, but even organic farms can be affected when they’re near contaminated land or water. Should you stop eating produce? No. We should be much more upset about how widespread these chemicals have become, especially when children are being exposed through foods we otherwise consider healthy. One practical thing I think is worth considering is beta-glucan. There’s some evidence it may help support the excretion of PFAS, and given how unavoidable these exposures are becoming, that may be a useful tool, especially for families who can’t realistically eliminate every source.

I'm a firefighter and on a regular basis I don't support who my unions support politically. I choose to put the tax payer first and then we will all thrive. That being said the tax payers deserve the best. To get the best people a city needs to pay fair wages and working conditions to get top performers to want to work there and serve the citizens. If not they will leave and they will go work somewhere else.
