The mass outrage of free travel for under 18s in #London being axed really highlights the N/S divide: up #north we already suffer from this, but it only becomes a problem when Ldn suffers. Transport is the no1 factor in social mobility - we need free public #transport for EVERY1!

@MovingLeeds Here's a great idea too, place the public transport front and centre, apply cheap fares, city wide and fully back the bus. That will assist in each company to grow and also reduce carbon emissions. So Leeds can effectively become a clear air city. As for the trains do the same.

🏡Working from home might have been a culture shock but for those who couldn't, you might need to commute 🚲 🚗Removing road traffic has allowed for massive reductions in congestion in & out of Leeds & provided a chance for pollution 🌬 in Leeds to greatly reduce. #GetPedalling

Good to see @Leeds_Highways investing in cycling infra on H'gate Rd / Ring Rd roundabout. However, it seems like commuters aren't using it: the extra traffic lights slow journeys; it stops suddenly; & it's partly tiled meaning it's slippery. Should be better consultations w users

I raised the issue of promoting #cycling/#walking/#rail transport over electric cars, which contribute to low-density car culture and can be environmentally harmful themselves (although obviously better than fossil fuel-powered!).

@MovingLeeds @RAIL @martin_lowe @Ogilvie_CJ @stophs2 NPR uses about 20 or 30 miles of HS2. Without HS2 that cost will need to be added to NPR costs. And I believe there's also a lot of uncertainty over costs of tunneling under Manchester to Picadilly. £39bn at the moment but I reckon nearer £60bn once it gets to the stage HS2 is at
