This is the first protest I've seen demanding the VP to resign as if he is the president.

On 5 May 2008, in Chiweshe, Mashonaland Central, six ZANU-PF youths dragged Joseph Madzuramhende from his home. His crime was owning a radio. The attackers forced him onto the ground, first on his stomach, then onto his back. They stuffed cloth into his mouth to silence him. They told him why. “You have a radio. Villagers come to your house to listen to Studio 7… to hear election results. That is your crime.” They used barbed wire. They tied it around his genitals. The other end to a log. “We will beat you until you move the log with your penis.” He tried to move it. He kept trying. The wire cut deeper as they beat him. They placed his genitals on a log and struck them again, then tied wire once more and dragged him across the ground until part of his genitals tore away. When they were done, his relatives carried him home on an ox cart. He was still speaking. He could not lie on his stomach. He could not lie on his back. At around 8 p.m., he died, slumped in a leaning position, his body broken beyond rest. Retired Major Cairo Mhandu, a former soldier and “war veteran,” had addressed the community before the violence began: "This community needs to be taught a lesson. It needs re-education". ZANU-PF youths tortured and murdered Joseph Madzuramhende for listening to the radio and supporting the opposition MDC. They murdered a peaceful, unarmed Zimbabwean. Retired Major Cairo Mhandu and his ZANU-PF enforcers must answer in court for Joseph Madzuramhende’s death.

A citizen, speaking on anonymity, warned: "Mbavha yema foni iri mutent reZCTU muDzivaresekwa stadium ngwarirai tsotsi iro" ("The phone thief is in ZCTU tent at Dzivaresekwa stadium, beware of that thug"). The alleged thug, identified as Gapa, has reportedly been linked to previous incidents of harassment and theft. Citizens are outraged: "How did he get in?" "Arrest Gapa now!"
