Cuba rations sugar now. The island that once produced 8 million tons annually and supplied 40% of global exports can't feed its own people the stuff that literally built their economy. In 1958, before Castro's revolution, Cuba exported sugar to 100+ countries. Today they import it from... wait for it... Brazil. The same fertile soil that made Cuban sugar legendary still exists. Central planning murdered the incentive structure that made production profitable in the first place. When you eliminate private property rights and replace market signals with bureaucratic quotas, you get exactly this outcome (every damn time). You want to understand why socialism fails? Watch a government ration the one commodity their geography practically gifts them. The Soviet Union did this with grain, Venezuela with oil, and now Cuba with sugar. It's almost impressive how consistently command economies destroy their own comparative advantages... Right now, they can't produce even a fraction of what capitalists used oxen to produce. Socialists will say it's because of sanctions, but the real reason is that no production, even on a basic level, can survive over the long term without private property rights.

Friedman watched workers digging ditches with shovels. He suggested they use excavators instead. That’s all it took to gut the entire logic of modern government. The teaspoon is not a punchline. It is the actual policy. Every agency that would cease to exist if it actually solved the problem it was created for. Every department that measures success by headcount instead of output. Every approval that routes through nine desks before someone can say yes. Teaspoons. The system doesn’t want excavators. Excavators finish the job. And a finished job is the one thing the system can’t afford. So it hands you a teaspoon. Calls it a career. Gives you a pension for never asking why the ditch took forty years. But this isn’t about laziness. It’s about control. A person digging with a teaspoon doesn’t have time to build something better. Doesn’t have the energy to question the plan. Doesn’t have a thought left to ask if the ditch even needed digging. Busy people don’t ask dangerous questions. That’s the point. The economy doesn’t run on productivity. It runs on the appearance of productivity. Millions of people sit at desks right now doing work a single script could replace by morning. They know it. Their managers know it. The people who sign their budgets know it. But the teaspoon stays in their hand. Because the moment you hand someone an excavator, they finish by noon. And a person with a free afternoon starts thinking. Starts building. Starts wondering why they needed permission to dig in the first place. That’s the thing the system can’t survive. Not unemployment. Free time. Musk didn’t tell a joke on Rogan. He described the longest con in modern governance. Keep them digging. Keep them busy. Keep the teaspoon in their hand so they never look up long enough to see the ditch was pointless from the start. Friedman told that story sixty years ago. He meant it as a warning. The system heard every word. It just made sure everyone kept calling it a joke so no one would recognize it as a confession.

In Jamaica 🇯🇲, most people are being forced not to use many beaches anymore, as the government is privatizing them to several European and American firms for control, and the people are unhappy about the idea.

This is exactly how you deal with the “lack of diversity” claim. You need to mock the absurdity of it. Push back. Do not give the woke an inch. This should have been how Christopher Nolan dealt with it. Instead he followed the woke guidelines and desecrated a masterpiece.

If someone only wants to work when massively overpaid relative to the value produced, then the issue still partly is that they don’t want to work under normal market conditions. The real question is whether the value produced justifies the pay demanded. Wanting higher pay is normal. Pretending every job can pay luxury salaries regardless of productivity isn’t.

“People don’t want to work” has always been a weird argument. Offer $350K a year to flip burgers and watch how fast applications start pouring in. The problem isn’t work. It’s pay.
