STATES have authority over our elections and voting—NOT a delusional President trying to make it harder for Americans to exercise their right to vote and have a say in the future of our country. Just like Trump, WA state votes by mail safely and successfully. This Executive Order belongs in the trash.

Almost $450 million in unaccounted-for payments have been made to subsidized childcare providers in WA state over the last 5 years. What's even more frustrating to me is that we had a fix for this in February. THIS is the sort of results you're paying for. THIS is the sort of thing you need to call out when someone tells you an income tax, a gas tax, a death tax, etc., is needed. If $450 million is just a shrug to budget writers as they move on to implement new tax schemes, they've lost touch with reality. We knew there was a problem. We had a fix. Quite literally, politics got in the way of a solution for WA state. How damn frustrating for Washingtonians. --- “Seeing this come out is like putting a knife into a wound,” said Rep. Josh Penner, R-31st District. “It’s frustrating because we knew this was a problem. We didn’t even have to agree that fraud existed. We knew this black hole of billing was a problem, and it was not addressed.” Penner said lawmakers worked with DCYF on legislation aimed at strengthening oversight of child care payments, including biometric attendance tracking and verification. However, House Bill 2253 died in the Senate earlier this month. He said the bill would have addressed issues cited in the audit, including missing attendance records, overbilling for unsupported services and missing required signatures from parents or guardians. ... “House Bill 2253 … would have implemented many of the recommendations from the auditor’s office,” Penner said. “Those changes could have already been in place.”

Excerpt ‘This ‘millionaire tax’ (SB 6346) is a huge mistake. It relies on a very small group (about 20-30K households who already pay roughly a third of all state taxes) staying put. That’s the assumption everything hinges on. If roughly 1 in 6 affected households leave, the tax goes underwater. If more than that leave, the state starts losing money, fast,” he said on LinkedIn.’
