I’ve been trying to compose this post for a few hours now and I’m really not sure how I should go about it, but here goes: As many of you have heard, @NoOnesPlatypus was called home. This comes as quite a shock because he was full of life and always blounced back from setbacks. I feel I can call him by his name, Dave was such a kind soul and amazing person. He never made a conversation about himself, he always asked questions about me and my family. He genuinely cared about you, he was not fake. He loved his wife and her family. You could always count on her and her family telling in the background in Portuguese while id be talking to him. 😀 Sieve and I were very close,he helped me through a lot of tough times in my life. He never wanted any recognition, he would say he’s “just a humble platypus.” He was always around when I needed him. I sure am going to miss him. Rest easy my friend, love you and see you in the next round.

I ordered one pancake in America. The waitress wrote it down and said, "one short stack." Short. I am a small and humble man. A short stack sounded perfect for me. I waited with a calm heart. She returned carrying three pancakes, each the size of my face, stacked into a tower, with a block of butter on top sliding down the sides like slow lava. This was the short one. I did not dare ask what the tall one looked like. Some knowledge a man is not ready for. I ate for forty minutes. I was not full. I was afraid. The tower did not shrink. I am fairly sure it was growing back faster than I could eat it. I had to surrender. I left half. In Japan, leaving food is a deep shame. So I leaned in close and apologized to the pancakes directly, in a low voice, one by one. The waitress asked if I wanted a box. I did not know food could be taken into custody. I declined. I did not want it following me home. In America, is the short stack truly the small one? I need time to prepare my spirit before I ever face the tall one.

*steps up on soapbox* Even with daylight savings time, in the summer the sun is up enough to wake me (and the dog and the chickens) at 05:30. OH FIVE THIRTY! And we aren't even to the summer solstice. Then, it will be 05:00. If we were on standard time year around I would be waking up at 04:30 right now. That is not "normal". On standard time, the whole "kids would go to school in the dark with dst" is a sham. The day is so short, they are anyway, and by the time they get home from aftercare, it is dark again. With dst in the winter, at least they would get a little bit of outside play. *puts away soapbox*
