#OTD in #History 1865, Gen Lee surrendered to Gen Grant at Appomattox, effectively ending the #CivilWar. The generous terms spared Confederate troops, so long as they gave up their weapons, returned home, & did not “take up arms against the Government of the #UnitedStates” again.
