I think men should not be allowed to work in nurseries and women should not be allowed to work as guards in male prisons. I reckon most people agree with me, yet it seems to happen quite a lot. Is there a legal/regulatory reason for this - eg, equality legislation?

I have no idea what background you’re from but I’m the son of a teenage Mom in Birmingham from a council estate. Not that I have to justify myself to you but whatever I’ve got, I’ve worked for. I don’t presume to speak on behalf of anyone; the problem with the radicalised flotsam and jetsam of society on this hellsite is that they assume they speak on behalf of *everyone*- and they really don’t.

Are there two people who symbolise Britain’s descent into self-parody over the last three decades? I think I’ve found them: Lewis Goodhall and Emily Maitlis. I’m not saying they’re as cartoonishly naive as a James O’Brien or Yasmin Alibhai-Brown. But Goodhall and Maitlis are the perfect archetype of that upper-middle-class caste: smugly self-assured, rigidly status-obsessed, and completely insulated from the realities of ordinary life. These are the people who dominate the chattering classes and worm their way into the upper ranks of the political parties. They simply don’t understand their own countrymen and women - nor do they care to. To them, the ‘little people’ are as peripheral as the Helots were to the ancient Greeks.

OLYMPICS UPDATE THREAD - DAY 12 Both our men's boulder/lead climbers have made the final. 19 year old prodigy Toby Roberts qualified with the second highest score. Hamish McArthur got through too in the final (8th) place. He was one of the last to qualify so unexpected.

@ICT_MrP Now, that is not to say an alternative pension is all bad - individual's financial situation may dictate what they need now and what they can afford for the future. What is important, and needs to be known, is the change to raw £ should TPS or an alternative be pursued.
