If anyone can donate, even the smallest amount will help massively ❤️
I’m supporting a close friend of mine who’s also a dedicated and respected teacher as he works to bring his daughter home to the UK so she can continue the urgent medical care she needs being with her family.

If you could take some time to read about my friend’s daughter and donate any amount it would be greatly appreciated! Please RT and spread this as far as possible! gofundme.com/f/help-us-brin…

@HollyTurts @MrThorntonTeach How do you find this works? My current policy is we find 3 pieces of spelling and grammar per piece of work, every two weeks. This is so time consuming when I have 14 sets of books to mark! Especially when I don’t find it has much of an impact on literacy etc
English

@MrMHistorian @MrThorntonTeach I do something similar but just on a ppt. Flick through a few books and make a list of areas to improve. Give time in class to fix.

@HollyTurts @MrThorntonTeach Just having a look now! I really like the idea of the worksheet! Looking at adapting it to suit my learners too! Just looking for more ideas to be influenced by! Thank you! 🙂

@MrMHistorian Look at @MrThorntonTeach blog if you haven’t already

@EHP89 @ElizMohon @TTRHistory Hi all, I have used some of the great ideas from @MrRobHistory and adapted them to suit my topics for this idea on a focus on key word tasks! DM me if you would like a copy 😀

@ElizMohon @MrMHistorian @TTRHistory This is really helpful thank you. I’m doing buts if it but needs to be more coordinated.

@ElizMohon @EHP89 @TTRHistory Thanks so much for this brilliant thread! I will definitely take this away and discuss with colleagues in school!
English

@EHP89 @MrMHistorian @TTRHistory I think that there are some factors affecting PP students which are even harder to address eg attendance and lack of aspiration. They hit us badly last year. But a focus on vocab gives them more of a chance. And actually seems to have benefited all students, esp SEND. The End!!!

@LankyDormers Every ounce of time is dedicated to something now. Every tutor morning has to have a session to literacy numeracy etc. Wish it was as simple as talking to the pupils and checking in!
English

@MrMHistorian And does in many schools who have this.
But also giving form tutors time to do their job and do it well
English

@LankyDormers A good point! Was just saying to a colleague having a dedicated non-teaching pastoral lead for each year group would work wonders!!
English

@MrMHistorian The answer is pastorally.
The cause of the inequality is social, so the "solution" is pastoral. Tutors every morning checking equipment and supplying stuff; making sure children aren't hungry, have coats, PE Kit etc.
English

@MrMHistorian It is so tough. Sorry I couldn’t give anything more specific. I went to a great talk by @snevetsr about closing the disadvantage gap at ResearchEd the other week who recommended Potential Plus resources and research.
