@fredfertang @EssexCricket Keith Boyce was one of my best Subutteo Cricket players in the mid 70s. Always contributed a good innings late-ish in the order
English

Chappelli turns the ball to leg on his way to a century in the Barbados Test in 1973 - the bowler is Keith Boyce, a wonderful fast bowling all rounder with an amazing flat throw who played for @EssexCricket and lit up the early years of the John Player League

@GoffyMedia @GeoffreyBoycott Is the bronze of the statue vulnerable ? If so it can be reinforced eg rods can be inserted.
My Geoffrey needed some restorative work in 1979 from sculptor Johm Atkins, when cracks by the ankles emerged. Rock solid in the 47 years since.
English

It has gathered some real momentum these past 48 hours @GeoffreyBoycott
Brian deserves to be highlighted with real pride & his family must be thinking exactly the same.

Tony Heckingbottom@TonyHeckingbot2
@GoffyMedia @Boro @Tosh_Warwick Two very driven sportsmen , great to see respect & goodwill is still on show 👍💯😎
English

@GoffyMedia @Boro @Tosh_Warwick I have a larger-than-life size bronze statue of @GeoffreyBoycott in my small flat in Hong Kong.
And a smaller statuette of him in Devon, England

English

A powerful moment in Middlesbrough today with Sir Geoffrey Boycott visiting the statue of his lifelong friend Brian Clough at Albert Park.
He was genuinely disappointed by its condition—feeling Cloughie’s legacy deserves far greater respect and care ⭐️ @Boro @Tosh_Warwick

@fredfertang @WG_RumblePants One of the last surviving British servicemen of WW1.
We thank him for his service
English

Now here's a remarkable image - Henry Allingham, 111 years old in 2007, is pictured at Lord's with a bust of @WG_RumblePants' ancestor who, in his youth, he had watched on the field play - Allingham was a Londoner but had never been to Lord's before this visit was arranged

@NotFarLeftAtAll It was a cheese & onion and tomato sandwich. And a cherry tomato lodged in his trachea when he nodded off

❤️ Heartbreaking: Healthy Brit mum, 56, travels to Swiss suicide clinic to end her life over grief at losing son, 23, in tragic accident
Wendy’s son died after falling asleep on the living room sofa while eating a sandwich his mum made him. Hungover, he had choked on his food.
Wendy, who has told her four sisters and two brothers about her decision, has even picked out what she is going to wear on her deathbed and chosen the music that will be the last thing she hears.
You can never get over losing a child … but this seems extreme

@fredfertang @CricketWebNet @PitchPublishing ‘Well, well, batting at number 8 the Master has hit a six’
JPL Somerset vs Yorkshire 1978
But, to whom was Jim Laker referring?
English

This one is aimed squarely at the baby boomers amongst us, but deserves to be of much wider appeal @CricketWebNet @PitchPublishing cricketweb.net/books/sos/

@FinalCollapse @steveallenshow That’s a really good idea.
How about it Steve. New online show, or podcast?
If you build it, we will subscribe.
English

@steveallenshow 4am has never been the same. We miss the spike!
Start a new online show! You'd have many listeners.

@BoobyMcCririck @BettingSitesCom @HonestFrank @BenStarSports @SimonNott @nickluck @leemottershead I was watching a 3 hr VHS tape in Bangkok yesterday of John in Celebrity Big Brother.
He warms up after a short time and is both funny and articulate.
This is how I spend my holidays in the tropics.
English

@WalleyVision What is the ratio of broadcast journalists: star former-sportsmen in your list vs. currently.
(As a rough guess )
I think that today they are hiring more ex-players (especially for televised sport)
English

@horsevault If I were to rewrite time and space (and I’m not saying I can’t), I’d let Crisp and @richard44158292 hang on in 1973.
Red Rum can have 74 and 77.
English

@NoContextHumans The masons built it with the gauge, the gavel and the chisel.
English

@horsevault To save readers looking it up , Des Lynam is 83.
So, slightly older now in horse years.
English

@StickToCricket @nick_newsum If anyone else in Asia has a @GeoffreyBoycott 1980 annual, I'll eat my hat. There will never be another sportsman celebrated in a hardback annual ....ever.

English

@gulu1959 @GeoffreyBoycott I like Arlott's pronunciation of "Boycut', it's rather nice.
English

Just soak in the warmth of the applause, all the players too. @GeoffreyBoycott put down his bat, looked up and clapped.
80s/90sCricket@80s90sCricket
The legendary John Arlott’s final piece of Test Match commentary. Beautiful.
English

@Beforeincidents @IdiotsHumans Soldier of the Chinese Liberation Army
Very very well done sir.
English

@horsevault How could Desert Orchid do that at at the last fence. I mean, come on Dessie.
English

@fredfertang @Gloscricket @TrentBridge I got Bomber Wells' autograph at a Budgie Burgess benefit game in Somerset in the 70s. And I have never known who he actually was till today.
English

Two old school off spinners meet in 1995 - on the left the instantly recognisable Ashes winning England captain Ray Illingworth and on the right one of the game's greatest characters, 'Bomber' Wells of @Gloscricket and @TrentBridge who once bowled an over in less than 34 seconds
