New: @Janeese4DC just released an internal poll showing her up by 14 in the mayoral race: her lead stays at 12 even when they run a RCV simulation. This is quite the change from the public poll of the race, but I will say I’ve heard rumors of private polls with similar results.

WATCH: Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker heavily criticizes Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s team this morning for their handling of the Chicago Bears deal and lobbying state government in general. “I know that the mayor has no plan. He has come up with no plan at all about how the Bears would end up in the city of Chicago. So that’s problematic. I’d love them to be in the city but we are three years in now and he still has no plan.” “The mayor has shown up every spring at the end of session to pronounce what he would like to see happen. As you know the budget gets put together starting in November…I present that budget to the legislature in February. So that seems like a good time period to come talk to the governor’s office. Then there’s February to May. There’s all that time to come talk to the legislature, which has my budget in hand, or the governor’s office.” “Again, we’ve seen almost nothing out of the mayoral administration here on that subject or really any other. So to show up in May and have a bunch of demands seems like late in the game. And it’s unfortunate that’s happened most years.” Johnson’s chief of external affairs is Kennedy Bartley, who formerly worked as a Chicago Teachers Union-funded organizer for police and prison abolition. The mayor’s former top lobbyist, Sydney Holman, resigned in 2024 after Johnson elevated Bartley to oversee the mayor’s office of intergovernmental affairs.

🚨 Endorsement Alert 🚨 I’m proud to have the endorsement of At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds, a steadfast leader who has spent her career fighting for DC residents too often left behind. Together, we’ll keep fighting and delivering for our seniors, returning citizens and marginalized communties across all eight wards.

Even as OCF investigates ties between JLG's mayoral campaign & unions could another controversy be brewing involving DC4Democracy & Sierra Club DC PAC? jonetta rose barras: Has Janeese Lewis George’s mayoral campaign violated DC election finance laws? thedcline.org/2026/05/01/jon…

One way to think about this is that JLG essentially tried to run her campaign the way De Santis did in 2020, by outsourcing much of it to a Super PAC. But then she allegedly made the decision to actually pay the people running the Super PAC for staff. axios.com/local/washingt…

America has ten times the billionaires today than we had in 1990. In rural Maine we have fewer schools, fewer hospitals, fewer young people who can ever hope to buy a home. Money has been sucked upward, out of our towns and into the pockets of the billionaire class.

A California resident says the SEIU "in-home care" union locked her in a room and coerced her into paying union dues. Experts say the taxpayer-funded program is rife with fraud—and the unions are collecting nearly $150 million each year from membership dues.

The most common response to these tragic situations is “just arrest them!” But what many people forget is that traffic offenses in DC are prosecuted by @DCAttorneyGen, who has never charged a single ATV rider in his tenure.

“I’m a proud democratic socialist, proud of how far we have come,” JLG told dozens at a DSA rally that incl. Rep Tlaib, hyping crowd w/ pledges of social housing, expanded rent control & strengthened tenants’ rights. Says she would “never apologize” for being part of its movement

Janeese Lewis George, the DSA-backed mayoral candidate in DC, reportedly cried and apologized at a meeting with Jewish leaders, who were upset over her pledged opposition to Zionism and Israeli apartheid. jewishinsider.com/2026/03/janees…

Chicago’s distressed dining scene—recently described as “on the brink of collapse”—was bolstered by good news last week, as the City Council voted to halt future increases in the minimum wage for servers and bartenders, writes @Mike_Saltsman on.wsj.com/3NwDfFP
