At the center of that ecosystem sits the SEIU. Through its Workers United affiliate, SEIU controls Amalgamated Bank, nicknamed "America's Labor Bank," founded 1923. Today it doesn't just bank unions. It banks the DNC, progressive orgs, and donor-advised funds that quietly move money into policy research. 📎 influencewatch.org/for-profit/ama…

The answer keeps leading back to the same place. Policies like Seattle's $15 minimum wage and secure scheduling ordinance weren't born from neutral policy debate. They were manufactured by an interconnected ecosystem of unions, donors, and academics all sharing the same funders, the same board seats, and the same political agenda.

What sort of “Journalism” goes on WAMU? Alex shares a poll with no cited sources. And then talks about “hearing rumors” that match the narrative. Hey Alex, your bias is showing…
Alex Koma@AlexKomaDC

New: @Janeese4DC just released an internal poll showing her up by 14 in the mayoral race: her lead stays at 12 even when they run a RCV simulation. This is quite the change from the public poll of the race, but I will say I’ve heard rumors of private polls with similar results.

The DSA brand is very good at talking like it represents working people. But it is actually rooted in the activist class, college-educated progressives, and people who want to cosplay economic populism.

The reality is @ChicagosMayor is completely inept. He whines and moans yet achieves absolutely nothing for his city. It’s almost as though he doesn’t know how to legislate at all.
Austin Berg@Austin__Berg

WATCH: Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker heavily criticizes Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s team this morning for their handling of the Chicago Bears deal and lobbying state government in general. “I know that the mayor has no plan. He has come up with no plan at all about how the Bears would end up in the city of Chicago. So that’s problematic. I’d love them to be in the city but we are three years in now and he still has no plan.” “The mayor has shown up every spring at the end of session to pronounce what he would like to see happen. As you know the budget gets put together starting in November…I present that budget to the legislature in February. So that seems like a good time period to come talk to the governor’s office. Then there’s February to May. There’s all that time to come talk to the legislature, which has my budget in hand, or the governor’s office.” “Again, we’ve seen almost nothing out of the mayoral administration here on that subject or really any other. So to show up in May and have a bunch of demands seems like late in the game. And it’s unfortunate that’s happened most years.” Johnson’s chief of external affairs is Kennedy Bartley, who formerly worked as a Chicago Teachers Union-funded organizer for police and prison abolition. The mayor’s former top lobbyist, Sydney Holman, resigned in 2024 after Johnson elevated Bartley to oversee the mayor’s office of intergovernmental affairs.

When you have campaign folks coordinating directly with PACs it’s a problem. But @Janeese4DC’s campaign thought they could collude with their comrades embedded here and there and it’d be totally fine. Rules for thee and all…

Graham Platner is a 100% disabled veteran receiving VA benefits of $4,800 month that he himself says supplement his income because his oyster business “does not make much money.” He took over Waukeag Neck Oyster Co. in 2020, runs it with his wife and a partner, and has acknowledged selling oysters to Ironbound, a restaurant owned by Leslie Harlow his mother, and addition to limited local spots and private events. He’s not some struggling independent oysterman scraping by solely on the water. He comes from a privileged background: prep school, successful restaurateur mother, attorney father, prominent architect grandfather, and is now a Democratic Senate candidate backed by the party machine and national donors. His attacks on “billionaires sucking money out of rural Maine” ring hollow when his own livelihood relies heavily on government disability payments rather than a thriving private business.
Graham Platner for Senate@grahamformaine

America has ten times the billionaires today than we had in 1990. In rural Maine we have fewer schools, fewer hospitals, fewer young people who can ever hope to buy a home. Money has been sucked upward, out of our towns and into the pockets of the billionaire class.

@ScottGoldstein @Janeese4DC Truly wild that Janeese’s supporters wild bend and contort themselves to support her, at any cost. And just will never admit her fault at any cost.

@MrTipCredit @Janeese4DC Truly wild that folks on X think they have a better take on what is good for these families than the families themselves and that folks also seem to think we should use enforcement… when… not necessary? How is this controversial? Fishing for something.

I’m sorry I use slurs. I’m sorry I was bigoted. I’m sorry I blamed women for rape. I’m sorry I was homophobic. I’m sorry I said Black people are cheap. I’m sorry I celebrated pissing on corpses. I’m sorry I voted for Susan Collins. I’m sorry I got a Totenkopf tattoo. I’m sorry I called rural voters racist. I’m sorry I said “all cops are bastards.” I’m sorry I endorsed political violence. Vote for me!

.@onefairwage has always been a deplorable organization. Much like their leadership, they don’t care about anyone but themselves and their “cause”. But blatantly promoting violence is definitely a new low.

@DCAttorneyGen @tomsherwood You lie so much you don’t even recognize it. How does unpaid parking tickets make some a “dangerous driver”?!?! You’re ridiculous here’s hoping you lose your race.

This is false. My office has charged 56 of 71 of these arrests brought to us by MPD since I've taken office. Because DC is not a state, the federal government, via USAO, handles all adult felonies, including felony traffic violations. OAG charges the most serious misdemeanor offenses that we do have control over at high rates — including 97% of DUIs and 93% of reckless driving cases in 2025. We also filed over two dozen STEER Act lawsuits to hold accountable dangerous drivers who rack up thousands of dollars in unpaid traffic violations on DC streets.
DC Police Union@DCPoliceUnion

The most common response to these tragic situations is “just arrest them!” But what many people forget is that traffic offenses in DC are prosecuted by @DCAttorneyGen, who has never charged a single ATV rider in his tenure.

Having managed restaurants as a gay man, when women defer to tears to attempt to win back favor it’s insanely transparent. @Janeese4DC doesn’t regret what she said, nor was her apology genuine, which is why it was in private. She’s antisemitic, she just can’t appear that way.

Tipped workers in Chicago are finally being heard by City Council who voted in a big way to reverse course on tip credit elimination. In just a couple short years of implementation they’ve seen workers lose income, hours, and jobs. Here’s hoping they swing a super majority.
Wall Street Journal Opinion@WSJopinion

Chicago’s distressed dining scene—recently described as “on the brink of collapse”—was bolstered by good news last week, as the City Council voted to halt future increases in the minimum wage for servers and bartenders, writes @Mike_Saltsman on.wsj.com/3NwDfFP
