@Carousel_Learn Hi Carousel, my gold membership renewed on 1st of Feb but I intended on cancelling my subscription and forgot to do so. I have now cancelled my subscription. Is it possible to close my account now and refund me the time I have remaining (up till 01/02/2026)?

@MrW_Science It depends. If your department is deemed strong enough then you should be fine. I have never heard of it 'not counting' but you may need to be mentored and supported externally.

@MrTs_NQTs If I’m participating in curriculum evenings, open evenings, parents evenings, duties outside of school, having a tutor group, and potentially going on a rewards trip later in the year, would you say I have standard 8 covered?

@MrW_Science This standard is about enhancing the school beyond your own classroom. This could be through clubs, but also supporting PTA events, assemblies, community activities or generally just getting stuck in with school life.

@MrW_Science I think you may be correct. It is not OK that they are over using you!

@MrTs_NQTs hi, are ECT 1s allowed to cover lessons?

@MrTs_NQTs I have been placed on cover two days in a row outside of my subject, is that acceptable? I have informed the school I’m leaving at the end of the term and so feel they may be taking advantage

@MrW_Science If it is within your specialism and you are still getting your 10% ECT time then yes - but it should not be a regular arrangement.

We had a very exciting delivery today! We've been lucky enough to trial Springboard over the past two half terms, and today, the "real thing" arrived! So excited for our KS3 team to share this with their classes.

@adamboxer1 I think they’re brilliant. Really well written and useful. Please keep going with these 🙏🏼 Appreciate it’s a time investment that may not feel worth it if getting very few hits, but just know there are people who really value what you’re doing, and might have a snowball effect

The MCA blogs are getting very few hits. Theories: 1. They aren't good 2. People are done with blogs 3. It's a series and people never read later instalments 4. All of the above Thoughts? They take a long time to write, not sure I can be bothered to keep going 🤣😭

@adamboxer1 This is great, thank you. So you do practicals towards the end of a topic once they have been taught the concept - do you do demonstrations while teaching the concept, or just rely on diagrams/images?

@CMooreAnderson Would you recommend handing out the sanctions even if it does mean some students end up being removed for *small* things like talking to their neighbour when asked not to? Want to set my expectations high, and if they repeat behaviours I feel it’s justified, but I did feel harsh

@adamboxer1 This could not come at a better time for me. Getting lots of feedback at the moment that my lessons/explanations can be quite dry, although I think my observers really dislike teacher talk and that might have a part to play in that feedback

NEXT WEEK As it stands, there is basically no research literature or blog wisdom that deals with the nuts and bolts of an effective classroom explanation. This talk represents the culmination of 4 years of observation, reading and iteration. COME ALONG IF YOU CAN
