Can anybody help please? I’m looking to help our head of history with some resources to support our 3-4 borderline students. Maybe something like a workbook or some extended writing scaffolds? Thanks! #edutwitter #history #gcsehistory

@thatspygirl @Hyattmc1507 Absolutely. Known flexibility is always ok. Students using it as an excuse isn’t ok. Students with an unnoticed and undiagnosed SEN need is also not ok and so clearing the corridors quicker to make those students more easily noticed helps them also.

@Mr_B_Carter @Hyattmc1507 It is but some children struggle with the noise and bustle of 1000 plus children moving at the same time and therefore being a few minutes late is their way of avoiding this. Flexibility is key

@outdoorperscrip @Hyattmc1507 There are very few times in the school day when students don’t have full autonomy over being on time. The mornings are slightly different but punctual to lessons is a student responsibility.

@Mr_B_Carter @Hyattmc1507 Kids getting punished when being late often isn't their fault? I've often been late for work in the past due to buses and traffic, I don't have to work an hour later to make up 5 minutes.

Who are the best people to follow for PSHE curriculum? Something I’m taking on in September that I’m not at all familiar with at the moment. #edutwitter #PSHE

@NMonkey73 @ktdu33 @RussInCheshire I agree that it’s probably more nuanced than first sight but it’s unlikely to be anywhere near the most devious policy thrown about.

@Mr_B_Carter @ktdu33 @RussInCheshire Possibly, as long as it isn't done using PFI as that's screwed the NHS My point is that by promoting this policy as the instant fix for all of the state systems funding issues is criminally disingenuous at best

@ktdu33 @NMonkey73 @RussInCheshire Could they not be purchased by multi academy trusts? Surely the most valuable use of old school grounds and buildings is to xo to us to use them as a school?

@NMonkey73 @RussInCheshire …in tow would be a very attractive purchasing prospect to a MAT that would have the purchasing power to obtain it. A number of big private schools could absorb the loss of income without raising fees should they choose to and make their budgets stretch further like state do.

@NMonkey73 @RussInCheshire In my experience salaries aren’t better that often. The main draw is working conditions in the classroom. I don’t know much about compulsory purchases but I would assume that a pristine private school that would be ready to have run in a weeks time (possibly with a full staff)…

@NMonkey73 @RussInCheshire All the private schools that shut already have fully trained teachers which will reduce the need to train additional new teachers. And independent school buildings are likely to make excellent locations to open new state schools. Further reducing the burden on new resources.

So there's over 500,000 children in Private Education in the UK The average secondary school caters for around 1,000 children So if 40% quit we will need another 200 Secondary schools to be built , equipped and staffed Where's the money coming from to pay for them? I have a funny feeling that those costs will far exceed the potential raised from taxing the Private Schools which is estimated at £1.5 Billion The Gov allocated just under £8K per child in state education 2023-24 so the extra 200,000 will use up all of that £1.5 Billion and that's before the buildings, equipment and training the teachers is accounted for Average Secondary School class is around 25 children, so that's potentially another 8,000 teachers which at around £75K training costs is approximately another £600 Million Average cost of building a new Secondary School is around £25-30 Million so that's potentially another £5 Billion So that's potentially £5.6 Billion going out to possibly get £1.6 Billion back, which would only be £960 Million with only 60% paying VAT Is it really worth it?

Y7 students spent tutor time this week honing and demonstrating their digital skills with the support of our digital leaders. They completed a digital passport to demonstrate all the skills they need to be successful on their iPads. #enjoyrespectachieve #bswdigitalleaders

The #WRCFinal this evening has so many players with so many caps. What is the most capped international rugby match ever? This must be up there I’d say?

Hot topic at the moment and I’m curious: What time does everyone arrive at school and leave (and what role do you do?) I’m in for 7-7:30 and leave before 4 most days. Will answer emails on my phone after this time. HoD in an all through MAT.

@CMooreAnderson Was this for triple science students? In my experience triple scientists don’t get much from retrieval quizzes. Foundation tier combined students it seems to make quite an impact although I’ve never done the analysis that you clearly have.
