Ryan McMahon's defense has left a lot to be desired this season. Came into today with -3 DRS and 0 OAA

If Anthony Volpe is officially “sent down” tomorrow it will be a monumental day in this disappointing era of Yankees baseball. The organization has the chance to do what it has failed to do during the last three years.

For me, Volpe’s defense was more about focus and intelligence than ability. Thought he looked like a deer in headlights for most of the season and that was because of pressure (not labrum). Yankees need to win a ring, not go through year 4 of the Volpe experiment right now. Thats why you stick with what works for now.

What are we talking about here man, I am not allowing the erasure of Volpe's pre-torn labrum 2023-2024 defense Caballero since 2023 at SS 2023: +4 DRS +2 OAA + 2 FRV 2024: -3 DRS +3 OAA +3 FRV 2025: +4 DRS +5 OAA +4 FRV Volpe since 2023 2023: +15 DRS +1 OAA +1 FRV 2024: +6 DRS +14 OAA +8 FRV *2025: +2 DRS -7 OAA -5 FRV tore his labrum* It's also funny to see people complain about Volpe's arm last year, when he played through a TORN LABRUM just for Cabby's 2026 arm strength to be equal to 2025 Volpe's arm strength so far 😂I do think Cabby's arm has a history of being better than Volpe's though. Not sure how long this holds up, just funny to point out considering we've seen quite a handful of weak throws over to 1B (errors or not). I will also say like I said yesterday, I think Cabby's played a great SS so far (besides the first week or so) and if he keeps this level of defense up, I'd be willing to change my mind.

Caballero and Rosario are bringing something to the Yankees the team needs. We've seen Volpe's play for 3 years. Low average shoddy fielding and his forever uppercut in his swing. Jazzmin is cooked at 2nd base. Jerky Jazz needs to be traded ASAP. Insert Volpe at 2nd base. FIN

In the last month, Boston sports fans have seen the - Pats HC have his years-long affair with a reporter exposed - Red Sox fire their manager and sit in last place in the division - Bruins lose in R1 of the playoffs - Celtics blow a 3-1 lead to the 76ers in R1 of the playoffs

If the Yankees really wanted to do the best thing for Anthony Volpe (what they should have done numerous times before), they'd leave him down in the minor leagues to play and gain confidence. We've seen plenty of other teams do it before with their "top prospects." Especially now with Jose Caballero playing solid and the Yankees as a whole being the best team in the AL, there's an opportunity to give Volpe some more time. It's what they should have done plenty of times before, but they'll likely just bring him right back up. We'll see.
