In that they've already paid for the code to do the thing, so are unwilling to pay again to have it redone in more modern languages and standards because the code is already "working fine" so they don't see the value.

@HostFission @eevblog @ufrat The TL;DR is this is not something you can realistically fix. SPF use is now standard, and is one of the best tools we have to combat spam. This problem is being caused by their techs inability to configure it and their only excuse is that they don't know how to use a computer.

@eevblog @ufrat It has nothing to do with forwarding, the sending company is using a SMTP server that is not authorised to send email on their behalf due to their bad SPF record. Anyone they email to that is unlucky enough to be routed through that server will also reject their email.

TEST: can people please test email me at dave @ eevblog.com with the subject email Test and only report back if it bounces. A few companies have said it bounces and they can't contact me. Thanks.

I've been approached by an AI company to have their AI translate the speech in all my videos into other languages. Something tells me, that's not gonna work well...

@mishterkurth @askwpgirl Essentially the risk is that if SS decide you've breached their TOS or similar, they can take it away from you and there's nowhere you can turn because only they can host it. A WP site can be hosted pretty much anywhere, so if that happens, you just grab a backup and migrate.

@mishterkurth @askwpgirl It's a trend I'm not particularly keen on, not because SS is bad, more that there's too much dependence on someone who could yoink it out from under you. You're 'building on someone else's land'. WP is more 'portable' if the relationship with the host sours for any reason.

@eevblog @Makers_Corner @Twitter FTR, while I don't have kids, as someone who is "on the spectrum" I do appreciate having online as an option. While I can't speak for everybody, some people legitimately find that a less intimidating and easier to navigate option.

@eevblog @Makers_Corner @Makers_Corner indeed makes many points. One is that @Twitter is indeed a public, one-to-many platform. The other being that involvement in a discussion on the pros and cons of online vs face-to-face interaction shouldn't be limited to "people with kids".

Just went to a patent teacher interview. Only 2 out of 63 parents bothered to show up in person, opting to do remote interview instead. And this is not Covid related, that's not a thing here any more. The future looks bleak.
