Did some journaling today, as even tho I was entirely safe with the grace of god, I still have things to learn from other people's mistakes.

Suddenly, you're 5 years in with nothing to show for it. Then you turn the corner...and make back those 5 years of losses in 6 months. This is the reality for most traders, me included. Years of mediocrity, breaking even, highs & lows, inconsistency...nothing working. Years where nothing happens, then weeks where years happen. That's the power of compounding skills, experiences, and capital. You’re delusional if you think you won’t have to pay market tuition...medical school is $500K, business mba is $200K, law school is $300K. But you're just gonna waltz into the most competitive game in existence and beat the market in year one? or two? Gotta pay the piper.

Most people quit because they forget that you have to be bad at something before you can be good at it. It's so obvious. You suck. Of course you're not going to win in 2 weeks. But if you can learn to enjoy extended periods of failure, you will make it very, very far in life.

when you first get into trading, you have to be obsessed obsession is what builds your skill that's the grind phase, and you can't skip it but once your system is built, the obsession has to die because obsession attaches meaning to individual trades the more you care about outcomes, the worse you perform the less you care, the better you execute and the better you execute, the better your trading becomes

I don't know if this helps but I felt the same way in 2018 after my first bear market. I ran $500 into like $70K and then lost all of it. Before that I was doing ecom, Amazon affiliates, YouTube, working at the mall, reselling event tickets. I was always doing something, but nothing really felt like it was leading anywhere. But all of it taught me something different, and that eventually helped me land a solid career in marketing. So even though it felt random at the time, just staying in motion ended up mattering. I also played the later bull markets much better and was able to continue building my network from there. You got this.

I was out fishing with my girl today and she asked me “If you had to start one business today and commit to it for the next 5 years, what would it be?" I went quiet and after a while I just said “I don’t know… and that eats at me every single day” Doing things every day and still going nowhere is a specific kind of hell and i wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone

Why be depressed and anxious when you can literally be optimistic high energetic and have the delusional belief that absolutely nothing can ever break you.

@ajdoestrading I agree with this one single advice of yours. Backtesting can only help you find your edge. You can't become a profitable trader with backtesting alone. You need to get out there in live markets and execute. Live market execution is always 100x better than backtesting.

Dudes spend 6 months backtesting their system Then go live and freeze up because they've never actually practiced taking the trade in real-time Backtesting is good for finding an edge But just backtesting is useless if you’re not live trading too I’ve seen guys take 500+ backtested trades and get crazy good results in their backtesting then struggle on live capital because the live markets are just different You need to be doing both!
