@minakimes Girl, I get you. I was SO mad when my Chiefs hired Andy Reid. I even posted on FB what a horrible hire it was. 🤣 Never been so very happy to eat my words!

I did, and have said I was wrong a bunch! (You can search for it on here). Also discussed on my pod a lot. Part of the job is trying to understand why you’re wrong so you can get better, imo.
Sean@TheSeanActual

@minakimes Your empty words fall on deaf ears. You thought it was a mistake to lose Geno. Must be nice to just be wrong and pretend you said nothing

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dedicated his life fighting for equity and justice. He taught us that even in the face of intimidation and discrimination, we must never stop working towards a better future – a lesson that feels especially relevant today. Change has never been easy. It takes persistence and determination, and requires all of us to speak out and stand up for what we believe in. As we honor Dr. King today, let’s draw strength from his example, and do our part to build on his legacy.

@Sassafrass_84 Girl …. I have an INCREDIBLE traditional Belgium waffle recipe, they’re actually called “Liege Waffles”🧇 Only caveat is that you need pearl sugar, and I’ve only found it on Amazon or online. You don’t even need syrup they’re that good.

I got this crazy idea this past week to host on Sunday a breakfast for dinner party. Invited my inlaws and extended ones. My daughters friends and their parents. A good friend of mine and her family. I love hosting dinners. What's something you like at breakfast time? I already have the meats figured it out. I am doing a fruit and scone platter. Biscuits n gravy. Pancakes. Eggs. What else should I add? I know. I'm just some crazy mom who loves to host parties. I decided I wanted to do this once a month. It's a good way to get all those I care about in my home to hang out. ;)

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month. It’s about oil and regime change. And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from Epstein + skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Several contradictory things are simultaneously true: 1. Maduro was an oppressive, unpopular and illegitimate ruler, disastrous for his country and the region. 2. Using the US to remove him may have been equally illegitimate. 3. Venezuela would be better off with a new government under the opposition's Edmundo Gonzalez (who probably won the presidential election but is now exiled). 4. It's not clear that Maduro will be replaced by Gonzalez. Maduro's VP is still apparently in power, as are other regime figures and the Cubans who back them. 5. As we've seen in Iraq and Libya, it can be easier to topple a leader than to establish a new government; sometimes you get a worse leader, or Somalia-style chaos.

As the year winds down, I’ve found myself reflecting on how much has happened in the Alphin household. This year has been full of peaks, valleys, and a lot of transition. My wife continues to serve faithfully as a pediatric physical therapist in our community, doing in-home visits with kids through Missouri’s First Steps program. In addition to her job, she puts an unbelievable number of miles on the road, often with me and the kids tagging along. Her biggest personal win this year might be upgrading out of van life and back into the SUV world. Beyond that, we’re doing well, and I love her more every day. We celebrated 15 years of marriage in June, which feels both surreal and deeply grounding. Our kids remain one of the greatest joys and hardest callings of my life. Parenting is relentlessly hard, but they make the hardship strangely enjoyable. This year brought big school transitions for all four. Schaefer jumped into middle school as a sixth grader, and the triplets stepped into kindergarten, sometimes enthusiastically, sometimes not. Early in the year, Schaefer broke his leg playing soccer, wiping out his entire spring season and part of the summer. Watching him walk through adversity, frustration, and tears was hard, but also meaningful. We learned a lot together. Our PT mama bear also learned that your toughest patients are sometimes your own kids. I will never forget hearing her shout from the other room, “Stop half-assing your workout!” I laughed. He did not. We try hard to treat the triplets as individuals, and thankfully, they are doing a great job of making that easy for us. Adleigh continues to lean into being sporty. Soccer, wrestling around the house, and gearing up for basketball are her thing. She lives in the same rotation of slides, sweatpants, and hoodies, recently lost her two front teeth, and has brought a lot of joy to our house this fall. Kherington plays soccer too but decided to branch into dance. She loves piano, art, embracing her left-handedness, and proudly rocking perpetually disheveled hair. She also loves telling on people and making sure I approve of whatever she’s doing. Pierce is an absolute bro. He knows exactly what he wants and doesn’t budge easily. He opted out of sports early, so we put him in Code Ninjas, which he loves. All my kids are funny, but Pierce’s humor hits differently. Zoe, our dog, is still with us at 14. She still acts four, just sleeps more. I’m fairly certain I’ll need a week of bereavement when her time comes. My wife has officially vetoed taxidermy. Personally, the year started rough. I was dealing with one of the worst seasons of burnout I’ve experienced. I cried a lot, felt stuck, and had to lean hard into vulnerability. With Megan’s encouragement, I went all-in on two things: hiring a personal trainer and starting counseling. No regrets. It changed the trajectory of my year. This summer, I also transitioned jobs and was met with a truly warm welcome. The back half of the year has been incredibly life-giving. Our church celebrated 25 years this year, which feels significant. I’ve been a member for 17 years and was on staff for 13. One thing I missed deeply in my previous role was investing in my local community. I love my city. I love our vibe and what we’re about. We’re not perfect, but we’re hospitable, and I’ll take honest hospitality over polished pretense any day. As I look toward 2026, I feel hopeful. New work, new plans, meaningful trips, and good things ahead. God is doing good work in our home, and He’s also opened my eyes to the beauty that’s been right in front of me all along. Grateful.
