I feel ever so slightly late to the hype, but this is a book so good I finished it and immediately ordered Year 6 a class set. It's absolutely and completely superb and I can't wait to read it with them.

This afternoon we invited Sister Clare and Sister Casimir into school for a liturgy to celebrate their time at St. Mary's. They enjoyed our songs, prayers and gifts and spoke about how they loved watching our lovely children growing up each year.

The absolute POWER of a visualiser and a modelling book. Incredible. For reference, this is the FIRST time my Year 1s have ever written in a maths book. Sheets stuck in by themselves. Blown away 🙌🏼🙌🏼 these tiny wins make this job the best in the world.

The simplest tasks can make for excellent retrieval practice. This game of Noughts and Crosses was very well received and appealed to their competitive nature. Students liked being asked to retrieve knowledge from their previous unit.

Dyslexia Awareness Day #2: Wait to fail must end. The myth of the "late bloomer" must end. We must act at the first sign of a reading challenge with evidence-aligned instruction & intervention. Literacy is every child's right but too often we fail them. It must stop.
