Judge grants Najee Ali’s victim one year restraining order. Says she met her burden of proof. In a surprise move, Najee’s wife showed up and said she needed help too. He started to go after her in the courthouse and the sheriff’s stopped him. Najee also admitted in court to choking his victim and other acts. More later…

To all of the people calling to defund PBS and NPR, here are some facts: - NPR receives approximately 0.6% of their funding from federal grants. The vast majority of their funding comes from corporate sponsors, and donations. - Fox News has saved millions of dollars through dodging US taxes by opening shell companies in the Cayman Islands and elsewhere. - Tesla, SpaceX and Solar City all receive substantially more in government funding than NPR.

I hope FOP realizes that 51% of the city is in support of an enforced consent decree, doesn’t support stop and frisk, no knock warrants or the plethora of ways we are violently policed in our communities.

13/ Also, I hope the CTU realizes that 49% of the households in the city were not on board with its politics. I think I speak for many parents when I say we’d prefer politics kept out of the educational system. School is for learning critical thinking skills. Not indoctrination.

12/ Something I hope Johnson will walk back from very publicly is the divisive statements regarding race and economic status. Everyone at the end of the day is a human being. We’re all in this together whether white, black or latino. Or high or lower income. A person is a person.

As a victim of multiple police misconduct incidents, No parent wants their children randomly harassed or victims of excessive force at the hands of police. Or shot in the back by police.

11/ And as someone whose kids have had several close calls with violent crime in the last few years, I care about public safety in a visceral way that I may have not before. No parent wants to see their children put at risk. Ever. Doesn’t matter what community you’re in.
