When we go back in-person, I am going to make it mandatory that my students wear shirts with whichever anime or cartoon character, athlete, celebrity or letter that is on their Google profile... because that is the only way I will be able to recognize them.

@teacher2teacher @nearpod What they are feeling and the struggles and success in their lives. This has helped build classroom culture virtually!

@teacher2teacher I use songs and videos to practice a skill before going to an actual text. @nearpod had helped a lot with keeping students engaged. Relationships are the key to engagement though! I have been taking 5 minutes at the beginning of class for a check-in where students share

@cubuffs2020 @teachergoals In fact, I would believe you work hard and hope you do. This post is highlighting an issue in a profession during a time where we are struggling immensely and it feels better to know other teachers feel the same. Thank you for working hard for your family and providing for them.

@cubuffs2020 @teachergoals Teaching. Many teachers teach a full day and then go home and work until 9 or 10. I personally don’t have kids because I know I would not be able to give them what they deserve right now. Your argument is similar to “all lives matter.” No one ever said you don’t work hard.

One of the saddest parts of how hard teachers are working is that they don't always have the energy for their own kids at home. 😥

A few questions about breakout rooms: (1) What is an ideal group size? I'm getting the sense that smaller works better. (2) Other specific tips for making breakout rooms work best? Specific prompts? Required end product? What else?

When it comes to distance learning, applying culturally responsive teaching requires “remixing” education by borrowing from the best practices in how kids learn in a way that repositions the student as the leader of his own learning. ow.ly/WV1q50Ci8Mn

The last Friday the 13th we had in 2020 was the last time I saw students in a classroom.

It is so exhausting trying to maintain a calm and cool demeanor in front of students (virtually) when everything is freezing and crashing.

@SCE please realize that whenever you schedule an outage, you are causing children to miss out on their education. I teach middle school and missing one day requires a lot of catch-up from students and causes them anxiety. Just throwing it out there in case you didn’t realize!
