BREAKING: The US Marines have detained a US citizen in Los Angeles. This is the first time in known US history that the marines have been used in this way to detain an American without the Insurrection Act being invoked. The Posse Comitatus Act (1878) Prohibits the use of the U.S. military (Army and Air Force, and by extension Navy and Marines under DoD policy) to enforce domestic laws without explicit Congressional or constitutional authorization. In other words, Trump is breaking the law once again.

Details: - The National Monument will span across 3 locations in Illinois and Mississippi, and according to The Independent will "protect places that are central to the story of Till's life and death at age 14, the acquittal of his white killers and his mother's activism, which helped spark the civil rights movement." - Emmett Till was lynched as a teen in Mississippi in 1955 after being accused of whistling at a white woman. - Tuesday is the anniversary of Till's birth in 1941. @litspeaks @TendentiousG @bjnt92281 A lot happened…integration, drugs, and for many a change in values. If you’ve been in a school lately…many parents don’t value education, which affects how the children behave at school due to the messages they are receiving at home.

@MrsWmsClassroom @TendentiousG @bjnt92281 I think there are some elements of old school parenting that got it right. Our job as parents is to keep what worked and modify/eliminate what didn’t. Clearly something they did was right because people gladly went into teaching and schools were relatively safe.

I don’t know what kinda Black community some of y’all come from…but in the Black community I grew up in we didn’t disrespect teachers at all. Teachers were probably the most respected people in the community. But I see that’s no longer the case.

@TendentiousG @bjnt92281 I don’t think parents have to be old school to have well behaved children. And remember, some of the worst kids at school are raised by grandparents. I’m not old school…at all…but my children are some of the best on campus (that’s not from me, that’s from the school).

@bjnt92281 I think reasonable people found middle ground. Because not all of these new kids are bad. And some of these new parents are still on that old school system. But enough of the kids and parents are terrible.
