Today is the day. Call me Dr. K! Education is a privilege and a gift. I love learning and I am so thankful that I got to complete this doctorate. I am so grateful for the blessing of supportive people who helped make it happen! Thank you, God, for your blessings on me!

So fortunate to be joined at @WVCTMnews by some of the best LIT members. Proud to be math royalty @m3t. Happy to share our learning today about what we learned when things didn’t work as planned.

A great first day of @WVCTMnews excited for more tomorrow. Shoutout to this amazing group of teachers. This is only part of where @m3t is reaching. So grateful for a chance to bring all of these great minds into one room.

Grateful for @m3t for giving me an opportunity to present with @Ms_JBK , @schwingaling , and @mp_campbell at #AMTE2023. Sharing our work is energizing and my head is buzzing with new ideas, and I’m in evolving how I see myself in teacher leadership.

Videoing your class is awkward, but hearing some of the conversations between students that I didn’t hear during class is making me so proud.

@MsHelft I used to then I stopped because I started using the area model. Also this ways factoring is always the same not one rule for a=1 and then something else otherwise

Math Internet. Do you teach students to factor with a=1 first and then a>1? For the last several years I have invited students to just use the area model and puzzle it out without diatinguishing the cases. Now I'm finding out that that was unusual. #MTBoS what say you?

Well- it’s the end of an era. If I’m no longer “Schwing,” what should my new handle be? 😭 “Cook” has no ring to it…except the one on my hand. 💍

@FakeChrisCook @PoeInDiscord Yeah I’m opposed to 2 and 4. 2 could really mess with funding. And 4 gives decisions the state boe normally makes to legislature, which is inserting politics into education way more than I like.

Hey WV teaching friends, please tell my your thoughts/feelings on the amendment 4. I feel like it would impact you all the most.

@jennysantilli1 @edtechmathteach @MoniseLSeward I’m also in WV and would say that the role out was rough, but my district is still integrated and I really like it. I was really fortunate to have a district that did a lot of internal pd on it. Like others have said the spiraling is really nice. We use mvp with openup resources

@edtechmathteach @MoniseLSeward DO NOT DO IT! Was a disaster in WV, and we couldn’t get back to separate classes fast enough. Was a nightmare for our kids seeking college entrance.

Ok #mtbos, who out there teaches an integrated math curriculum in HS? Please share the pros & cons of moving to it from a traditional (Alg 1, Geo, Alg 2) sequence, I want to know more! 😊 #iteachmath #teachertwitter

Todays @m3t_wv LIT meeting was awesome. Who doesn’t want a PD where you start out with fake conspiracies and end with identifying your common bug.

Spent my evening becoming obsessed with all things area models. Multiplication, factoring, polynomial division. Thanks teacher Twitter for that wormhole.

Today my husband and I had to cut vex pieces for our first robotics lab since they don’t sell the required pieces outside of the kit. Feeling accomplished. #learnwiththem
