#TOpoli Giving people choice on how we move through cities should include prioritizing vulnerable road users. Create infrastructure that allow electric vehicles, that aren't cars, to thrive.

E-bike as car replacement? Looks like a real possibility. My first piece for @NPR @MorningEdition.

@ashleylongellis @heyprofbow How can a person's real body be unhealthy for other people? It's her actual body. She's not inflicting it on anybody. She has a right to exist too!
English

@heyprofbow While I love and adore Kate, her barbie figure isn’t healthy for those of us raising young girls

@jdesmondharris Classic "you'll thank me when you're older, trust me" conv

@jdesmondharris PS "If you won't change the name, you don't get the horse" is what worries me here
"Great news, we're getting you the horse but you will have to change the name"
If you can't set this boundary... PEP (parent encouragement program) is low cost and it helps!

@kellogg_camille I do also love and appreciate stories with a real and relatable contemporary context - coincidentally these are typically written by current classroom teachers (:
But if the last time you set foot in a MS classroom was MS.... I'd rather you write what you know.
English

@kellogg_camille Counterpoint: Sometimes writing for yourself makes the story more real.
I think it's less distracting for young readers when a story is set in the past than when a writer has clearly shoehorned in their best attempt at The Tick Tock or Kids These Days Slang.

@StephenKing Funny, to me the tweet was fine as is... interesting, even...
but adding "not trying to be sexist" makes it icky.
And sexist.
English

@jimmy_dguitar @tylerkingkade Although let's agree before the GOP gets there that a picture of a child in a cat costume at school in October does not constitute evidence of the furry enabling epidemic.

Friends, it's my birthday! I'm not teaching this year - but several of my former students now have classrooms of their own.
If you'd like to give me a gift, please consider sending a little $ or a book their way:

@ConorPWilliams Can't speak to the shortage or empirical data (as usual) but I am writing about where I personally went and why.
I'll be back, I hope.
English

@EricBourland I don't disagree... but the prose is significantly less effective and more distracting for the woman reader.
English

@JamilahLemieux Love the sunlight... and like seeing my neighbors on the block, too. We live in the city - the "downstairs" isn't private. We get dressed to come down the stairs!
