I think that you’ve gotta have a couple of teenagers under your wing and a handful of friends that are 10-30 years older than you so you don’t get trapped in generational cliches

Some of you still seem to think oil is only used for gasoline for light duty vehicles, because that’s the only time you’ve physically encountered it. Expensive and scarce oil is an omnicrisis for the global economy. It cannot be replaced by electrons from solar panels.

The curse of intelligence is restlessness, the curse of lacking intelligence is envy. The curse of courage is isolation, the curse of lacking courage is regret.

And one major problem with knowing too much or seeing things clearly is that you lose the ability to participate in certain illusions that make life easier for everyone else.

It's World Poetry Day, and I am in a state of immense gratitude. In poems, life assumes ornate shapes. Everything can be rendered at once hauntingly beautiful and shockingly repulsive in the same breath. Poetry is the rare art form with the audacity to reach into your chest, tear your sensibilities apart, rearrange them, prod and scrutinise each tender piece, then hand them back to you; reproportioned and somehow more yours than before.

Phakamisa Ndzamela is one of the most thoughtful, thorough and intentional writers I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. He’s also a student of the history of black business. Any work of his is worth the time and investment, whether it’s a book or article. I’m getting mine.

The cat is out of the bag. This book uses a case study to show: 1) Entrepreneurship & B-BBEE aren't strange bed fellows 2) B-BBEE adds value to the economy (skills, jobs, profits) 3) B-BBEE firms can be influential & control without being passive. 4) Weaknesses highlighted too.

Casa Caimán in Oaxaca is proof that the best buildings don’t need much. Just the right materials in the right hands. What local material would you love to see used more in buildings near you? 📍 Casa Caimán, Oaxaca, Mexico Design: Bloqe Arquitectura 📸 Rafael Gamo
