UPDATE: I was about to post a calm update about tomorrow… and then 4:30 happened. I have a hematology appointment tomorrow morning that my surgeon requires before I can move forward safely with surgery. The goal is to make sure I’m not at risk for serious bleeding complications. I was planning to share that, ask for prayers, and keep it moving. Then I got a call. At 4:30 PM, my hematologist personally called and suggested canceling my appointment and having my surgeon coordinate with someone in Cleveland instead. After everything it has taken to get to this point… yeah, that wasn’t happening. I told him I will be at my appointment tomorrow, with my surgeon’s team looped in if needed, because I need to be cleared to move forward. I’ve spent years advocating for others, but advocating for yourself—especially in the middle of something like this where I feel like I am fighting for my life—is a whole different experience. The reality is, patients are often forced to play middleman just to make sure their care actually happens. And that’s where I’m at right now. Puddles. 😭 I’m overwhelmed, I’m anxious—but I’m not backing down from this.
