@hannahsaywhaaat As a summer associate I was one of 3 women in our team of 25. Of the 2 others one was an associate and the other was the office manager.

when I quit investment banking, I was the 2nd highest ranking female in my 60+ person group. As a 2nd year analyst. Let that sink in.

You don’t need better ideas to get started, you need to get started to have better ideas.

Just so we're all on the same page -- When an investor asks 'how much are you raising?' They're really asking, 'what do you think your business is worth?' (implied dilution targets are the 🌉) Always safer to give a range and start small / work your way up.

@sytaylor Yes! I think the banks have suffered from leadership that looks very similar to leadership they’ve had for the past 150years. Imagine the potential of digital leaders, women, and diverse collaborative leadership teams that think disrupt the hierarchy and maximise the ecosystem!

Could an incumbent bank ever credibility pivot to being a growth stock (e.g. like Adobe did)?

I hate to admit it… but it’s been months. I’m genuinely beat down and sad in my bones about the amount of sexism in startups and VC. My heart is so tired. My spirit so sad. I will always keep going. But it doesn’t mean women aren’t silently paying an emotional tax.

Visited an event to meet VCs and first presentation I hear is "Being a VC is like you're in the gladiator stands. You look out and you're like: I'm gonna bet on that guy because he's gonna win. I'm not gonna bet on that guy, because he's gonna get killed." Then I promptly left.😅

@MatiGiglio @paulbz I met with an Indian team of investors. One of them turned up late for the meeting, the other asked if we were waiting for the founder to join from my team.

@paulbz Ahahah this is exactly my experience (of the US too). Love working in different places :)

I've worked and built teams in the UK and in India. One of the biggest difference? Meeting in the UK: The first 10mins are spent talking about the weather, common connections, thanking/ apologising for something Meeting in India: "hi, so what we need to do is..." 🤣
