@stefancoh I appreciate the apology - no joke. Unfortunately, the "mess up" wasn't the tweet or the photo, it was the years of work that led to the conclusion that a 7 member all male (largely homogenous in other respects) team was the right move. But let's not the LPs off the hook. (CTD)

@hannahsaywhaaat As a summer associate I was one of 3 women in our team of 25. Of the 2 others one was an associate and the other was the office manager.

when I quit investment banking, I was the 2nd highest ranking female in my 60+ person group. As a 2nd year analyst. Let that sink in.

Just so we're all on the same page -- When an investor asks 'how much are you raising?' They're really asking, 'what do you think your business is worth?' (implied dilution targets are the 🌉) Always safer to give a range and start small / work your way up.

Never expected this much uptake, Twitter algo doesn't usually like me. I just felt sad saying no to a founder and put out a tweet... Created a GC, the GC is now full, but hopefully we've made some connections ❤️

Any FinTech angel investors in my network looking for great dealflow? For conflict reasons, I can't do FinTech but I see some awesome stuff 🙂 Grateful for tags with anyone I should know or DM me. Thanks!

@MsSujata Can't recall some startups with women founders that turned profitable... Can you suggest some names? Will make a good case for funding.

“When only 97% of VC funding goes to men, something is fundamentally wrong with the entire model; with how we view risk; innovation and entrepreneurship… and how much untapped human potential we are actually sitting on.”

@sytaylor Yes! I think the banks have suffered from leadership that looks very similar to leadership they’ve had for the past 150years. Imagine the potential of digital leaders, women, and diverse collaborative leadership teams that think disrupt the hierarchy and maximise the ecosystem!

Could an incumbent bank ever credibility pivot to being a growth stock (e.g. like Adobe did)?

2/ Five years ago I suppressed my feelings and nodded blankly when told this, but this time I just blew up. What the hell. Reinforcing Silicon Valley brotopia is not helpful.

I love cold pitches. But a surefire way not to get funding from @January_VC is to start it with: "Dear Sirs..."

I hate to admit it… but it’s been months. I’m genuinely beat down and sad in my bones about the amount of sexism in startups and VC. My heart is so tired. My spirit so sad. I will always keep going. But it doesn’t mean women aren’t silently paying an emotional tax.

Visited an event to meet VCs and first presentation I hear is "Being a VC is like you're in the gladiator stands. You look out and you're like: I'm gonna bet on that guy because he's gonna win. I'm not gonna bet on that guy, because he's gonna get killed." Then I promptly left.😅

Please never get a .us domain name or you'll regret it for life. I am getting a phone call every 20 minutes from Spam Risk, despite changing my number to a fake one a few hours after realizing my mistake.

Hahaha. So .us domains don't have privacy protection. (I made this dumb mistake, so RIP my phone number.) This SEO spam guy in Brooklyn just cold-called me to tell me SocialBuddy is a BIG BUSINESS. And wants to try it. I'm kinda curious what the parties of SEO spam dudes are like

Marketplaces outperformed the wider tech sector & received record levels of investment in 2020 But there is a new era of marketplaces, it's just getting started & it's a privilege to be building right now🚀 Great future of marketplaces report @dealroomco @Adevinta @speedinvest

@MatiGiglio @paulbz I met with an Indian team of investors. One of them turned up late for the meeting, the other asked if we were waiting for the founder to join from my team.

I've worked and built teams in the UK and in India. One of the biggest difference? Meeting in the UK: The first 10mins are spent talking about the weather, common connections, thanking/ apologising for something Meeting in India: "hi, so what we need to do is..." 🤣
