The state granting monopoly privileges to one producer and sending cops to rob and beat anyone who uses their own property to copy or improve the monopolist's product is anti-capitalist lmao

The topics I discussed when I was 16 and the degenerate things my class spurted out. I think the 16 yr old will be fine. It's obvious from the clip that this was not an invitation but just a emotional question. As a parent I would also say if my teenage son has a crush on someone "Do you love her or are you just horny?". I don't see any big issue with that

🇮🇹 | Italianos denuncian con vídeos en las redes sociales que cada vez es más habitual que los revisores del transporte público sólo les pidan los billetes a ellos e ignoren por completo a los inmigrantes, que se cuelan sin pagar.

Yes thats exactly what I meant, to cite John Locke: "Every man has a property in his own person: this nobody has a right to, but himself. The labour of his body, and the work of his hands, we may say, are properly his." This is the classic formulation of self-ownership: individuals own themselves, their bodies, faculties, and the fruits of their labor (leading to rights in external property).

@Much8Less @NJBeisner I think what you are saying is by right to self ownership you are referring to the right to life from the declaration? That makes a lot more sense but you should have been clearer from the beginning. I think it's fair to argue that abortion is unAmerican from this perspective.

Woman: “So you don’t think it’s killing a human being?” Dean Withers: “No, I do.” Woman: “And you’re ok with that?” Dean: “Yes.” 🙄 At least he admits it, I guess? So often they won’t admit that they’re perfectly fine with killing innocent humans.

The Declaration the document that justified creating the U.S. explicitly says rights are endowed by the Creator and unalienable, and government exists to secure them. Self-ownership is the foundation of that. If it’s not in current statute, that just means government can violate it,it doesn’t mean the right doesn’t exist. That’s why the Founders appealed to it against British law. Self-ownership isn’t "irrelevant" it’s the reason we can say some government actions (or private ones) are wrong even if "legal." If rights only come from the current regime, then anything the state allows (including what you support re: "undesirables") is automatically just. Natural rights give us a standard above positive law to judge it.

@Much8Less @NJBeisner It may have been an idea that some founding figures believed in but it is not present in us law or any governing body. It is therefore irrelevant to everyone except you, apparently.

@exproliate @NJBeisner The right to self ownership was literally an idea of the founding fathers. You can also derive this right objectively per argumentation ethics. If someone or a government violates this right, this doesn't therefore that this right is invalid

@Much8Less @NJBeisner Yeah except all that stuff is just in your imagination because as a us citizen you don't have a right to "self ownership".

It doesn't matter if they are human or not. I do think that if you commit atrocities, you can loose your right to self ownership and it wouldn't be immoral to kill you. This cannot apply to a baby/zygote, because it is not able to act on its own. You have the human right to self ownership but you can lose that right if you don't respect it for others

@NJBeisner That's easy to criticize but we all believe there's times where it's ok to intentionally kill a human, like with self defense. Abortion isn't wrong just because it kills a human but rather that it's a unjustified killing of a human.

Socialism often begins with the premise that the rich are the problem. The actual problem is that after you've punished, taxed, regulated, expropriated, or "eaten" the rich, you're still left with the harder question: Who is going to create the next factory, fund the next startup, invest in the next technology, or take the next risk? Destruction is not a production strategy.
