So many great options out there. I’ll give you my core 3 for those starting out on their #leadership journey. “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by @StephenRCovey ▪️First published in 1989, the principles outlined are timeless. I still go back to this book whenever I feel a decrease in my personal effectiveness - a personal quality check. “Drive” by @DanielPink . ▫️Still the best book I’ve ever read about the three elements of motivation (autonomy, mastery, purpose), which was an eye opener. My bias going in was that the carrot and stick model worked always. The evidence shows otherwise. “Start with Why” by @simonsinek . ▪️Brilliant framework for organizations, and also one I’ve used for action plans (Start with Why, Identify What we’re going to accomplish, and then map out our How in the middle) I recommend these three books as a starter set, and then after mentees and colleagues get hooked on a reading habit, then add in books from @JonGordon11 (“Energy Bus”), @TheJohnCMaxwell (“The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership”), @RobertGreene (“The 48 Laws of Power”), @RyanHoliday (“The Obstacle is the Way”), @BStulberg and @stevemagness (“Peak Performance”). From there, we let it organically grow. The best part? The book club galvanizes the group to exploring authors and topics. Some read every book an author has ever written. Some go to source material such as “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius. Others go to collections on a leadership topic (e.g. Handling Adversity). The beauty is seeing people get inspired by reading, and applying the principles learned in their lives. Enjoy! 😊
