✍🏻 Liverpool’s starting XI cost £430.2m; the 10 outfield players had all won league titles in their career. ⚽️ But they conceded the first goal for the 21st time and lost their 18th game of the season. ✍🏻 They are soft touches. It can’t continue telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

Hypothetical: Penalty for sending back = 5m Wages for 6 months = 2.5m Renegotiate so the penalty is less than the wages, then send him somewhere else on loan. Problem solved, hire me?

Alexander Isak has a minor groin problem. Liverpool taking no risks given his injury issues this season. Isak is expected to play again before the end of the campaign.

✍🏻 Arne Slot will be given chance to lead Liverpool next season but the onus is on to prove himself ⚽️ £2.71m a minute so far for Ekitike, Isak & Wirtz ⚽️ Discussions on reshaping squad. Does Alisson stay? Does Diomande arrive? For @TelegraphSport telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

PSG deservedly through but Liverpool gave everything tonight and if they’d scored when on top, who knows? Still, that was a performance fans can get behind and, unlike many of them this season, suggested something is being built during this season. Key now to finish it strongly.

It angers me that Slot won't walk and he's just sat there waiting to get sacked for the payout.

I think this one image sums up the disconnect between the fans and the players at the moment. What a difference a year makes in that regard. They’re all millionaires and just seem totally disconnected from reality these days. The away fans especially, invest so much time and money into following the club. They’ll stay until the end and give as much support as they can - but if they see a manager and team who look like they can’t be arsed then you’ll lose their support. Liverpool fans don’t typically make banners and chant for their own manager being sacked, but leaving early and chanting for another manager is as close as you’re going to get. The tongue in cheek “Hodgson for England” chant was similar to what happened at the Etihad with the Alonso chant. The manager has slowly lost the fans, we all hoped he would turn it around but there is just no sign of it happening, surely the owners see that? I just don’t understand what Szoboszlai was trying to achieve too. He could see there was hardly any left, the ones that are left, are simply not going to applaud that capitulation. Time for change, before the rot truly sets in and we go back to winning the odd cup.

I didn't understand how the Man City and PSG games were big for Slot because those two are way ahead of Liverpool right now, so surely results against Wolves, Spurs, Burnley and - coming up - Everton meant more. But this turned into a humiliation and will likely damage him.

FT: Man City 4 #LFC 0: Humilating afternoon for Liverpool as they bow out of the FA Cup at the Etihad. Completely fell to pieces after a bright start. Wretched start to a pivotal run. A very bad day for Slot as the pressure on him intensifies.

A lot of empty seats in the away end and we still have more than 15mins plus stoppage time to go. Can't blame them for getting off. They've been badly let down here.

Jamie Carragher speaking to @TeleFootball: "My fear is Liverpool supporters are already behaving like United fans in the aftermath of Ferguson’s departure. They are on such a quest to find the next Klopp – or a charismatic figurehead of similar status – that they will be willing to offload many good managers, season after season, in the potentially forlorn hope of finding the next superstar. "There is no other Klopp. He was a one-off. His presence at last weekend’s legends game at Anfield was a reminder of his aura."
