Still baffled to how it's somehow better for us to not pay his wages for 6 months than to send him elsewhere or play him here to retain some value.

The crazy situation that has put Harvey Elliott’s promising career on hold - stuck at nine games for Aston Villa on loan - is deeply frustrating on a human and professional level. It looks even crazier given the struggles of Villa’s squad players against Spurs. And also Liverpool’s need for some invention and energy, including a stronger option on the right against Manchester United. What a sad waste of a year for Elliott after a terrific Euro Under-21s where he was Player of the Tournament. He just wants to play. Last summer Elliott was looking forward to the season and hoping to force his way into the England senior squad. This loan with obligation to buy after 10 games has proved a millstone given Unai Emery doesn’t want to buy. You have to feel for Elliott. Clubs, PL, PFA and FIFA (because of the two-team rule) have to work to ensure a young player’s career isn’t put on hold again. Elliott deserves better.

He's a very ordinary fullback. Isn't a bad fullback, just isn't extraordinary. We lucked out unbelievably with Trent and Robbo, to the point where we probably forgot as a fanbase just how difficult it is for a fullback to be extraordinary at this level. It's a rare thing.

@AnfieIdFix oh sure, probably a little more than I expected as well, I'm just curious on how that scales and if we'll be able to convince the player that it's for the best if it's less than desired.

@Poots__ 722 minutes this season, equivalent of 8 full 90s plus a pre-season where he played more minutes than I expected him to. It's probably about right for a 17 year old but I think we could've given him more minutes at the start of the season

I think Slot should go but the whole concept of sacking a manager along with all of his backroom staff and starting the process all over again in the hopes that a £115m investment will suddenly come good seems a little backwards to me

Wirtz will transform when he’s under a proper coach. I can’t emphasise how bad Slot’s tactics are. Salah played the greatest PL season ever and was fed by Trent, a game-breaking deep passer. We won the league despite Slot’s poor tactics, not because of it.

@noire_17 @AnfieIdFix There is only so much you can do as a right footed RW, the ball striking on the left is not impressive enough (like Semenyo) for me to be comfortable.
I'm not convinced on this 'technique' either just yet, I see a lot of stuttering, a few feints.

@AnfieIdFix I know the prices being branded about, but I'd say with not 100% confidence but pretty high, that Ngumoha is a better LW than him, and that is not a good thing for me to think about a right footed RW that's apparently going to go for a lot of money.

@Poots__ Just a complete lack of standouts in Mo's position though. Even Barcola is better off the left (Diomande better than Barcola off the right but not by much)

@AnfieIdFix I've seen Frimpong cut in in the Bundesliga, he can't here, and for all that pace he's apparently got, he may as well not have it against a low block as they know the move that's coming.

@AnfieIdFix Likely never faces low blocks either, what if he looks like Frimpong did today if he can't go inside into all that space like he can in his comps when he's completing these actions as deep as he does? I see dribbles inside near the half way line.
