Good news. The Arterial Drainage Act has been one of the greatest drivers of impaired hydrological and ecological functioning of Irish rivers. Reform and meaningful change to nationwide channel hydro-morphology will be a big challenge but this is a good step.

Noel Bardon of the Farmers Journal reports on how deploying rainwater retention measures on farmland could see farmers paid to prevent flooding downstream from their lands researchers in the SloWaters scheme told attendees at a conference this week. Check out the paper today.
