Just watched “The Odyssey” I’ve been waiting patiently for it for like 2 years since I heard Nolan was going to adapt it. I’d give it an 8.5/10. It was a great film. Don’t listen to the culture war maxis here on X telling you it’s an insult to western civilization to see it It’s not There are certainly more black people in it than would have probably been around in Ancient Greek halls, but who really gives af Nolan clearly wasn’t trying to create the most historically accurate recreation of the Ancient Greek world. If you’re a classical purist, I can see how this might be triggering But if you’re a normal person wanting to enjoy a good film, it’s not a big deal that it’s not 100% historically or mythologically perfect He’s remade and reimagined The Odyssey with his own artistic fingerprints and I respect it I’ve read the Odyssey and Iliad cover to cover twice in the past year and it’s clear Nolan has a deep respect, understanding and reverence for the source material. It was a thoroughly enjoyable, fast-paced, engrossing, visually stunning film that was very faithful to the original tale. Like any Nolan film the acting, visual effects, music, and cinematography were all on point. If anything I felt like the music was too loud at points and nearly drowned out the dialogue. But there was something missing for me to class it with the truly S-tier epic adventure films like the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Those are like 9.5-10’s for me. It’s hard to put a finger on it but I wasn’t as emotionally moved at the end of this one as I have been by the benchmark fantasy style movies. Big spoiler alert here: Elliot Page’s character gets brutally murdered in the first few moments of the film which has gotta be some type of meta-social critique riddle making fun of all of the people that trashed the casting decision to include a trans person in the movie Nolan was clearly playing some type of culture war chess there.

Just finished watching The Odyssey!!! I have never been in a movie theater where, at the end of the movie, as the credits are rolling, there is just silence. No one gets up—we all just sit there. All I could get out and say to my dad, who I saw the movie with, was, "OH MY GOODNESS!" And all my dad could say was, "WOW!!!!" Sir Christopher Nolan, you are not just a GREAT storyteller—you are a teller of journeys. You are not afraid to take your audience on a journey, and what an EPIC journey The Odyssey is!!! From the cinematography, costume design, film editing, production design, visual effects, screenplay, and acting, everything is EPIC. And don't even get me started on the sound. The sound is a masterpiece!!! Yes, I'm sure you've heard people say the middle of this movie is a little slow, but I would argue that it's meant to be that way. We are meant to feel tired in the middle of this journey so that when the ending comes, we, the audience, feel everything Odysseus is feeling. Also, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, and Anne Hathaway all deserve Oscar nominations! In fact, this movie could easily tie Sinners with 16 nominations, and all I can say is that I HOPE it does!!!! Sir Christopher Nolan, the way you make movies has got to be studied, because The Odyssey is a cinematic masterclass!!! #TheOdyssey #movies

Finally saw #Supergirl and I can honestly say it was a solid superhero film. Very entertaining (in particular if you like Mad Max aesthetics and space-based comic stories), and Milly Alcock pulled off a great version of Kara Zor-El that was troubled and nuanced, not unlike all of Alcock's detractors on X. Like her, they just need to be given the chance to mature into a better version of themselves. Good flick, go and see it in IMAX before it's too late!

Saw #Supergirl today and I honestly loved it. I’m somewhere around a 7.5 or an 8/10. Was it perfect? No. But did its flaws take me out? Definitely not. Go see it!!

I watched Supergirl and had a great time! This movie is far better than the mess some people are trying to make it out to be. We absolutely loved it. It’s definitely not perfect;_ it has some weak moments, and the editing feels a bit choppy in a few places. Lobo honestly didn’t have much to do, but I was still glad to finally see him on the big screen, and I can’t wait to see him again (Momoa is Lobo). Milly absolutely crushed it. The third act was really strong, and by the time the credits rolled, we walked away with a smile on my face. Don’t let the online noise fool you. This is not the disaster some people would have you believe. I highly recommend checking it out and making up your own mind.
