2.5 million Muslims fought and worked during World War One. An inconvenient truth for far right, hypernationalist, anti-Muslim bigots.

DYK there were 1.5million+ Muslims that helped to protect Britain and its people, when they fought in both #WW1 & WW2? A very rare living proof is Mohammed Hussain of Slough who captured Hitlers elite at the battle of Monte Cassino in #WW2: windsorexpress.co.uk/news/windsor/1…

Some uncomfortable facts for rednecks and other racist wankers… During WW1, the British Indian Army numbered over 1.3 million, and at least 400,000 were Muslims. The British Indian Army was composed of volunteers who served in France, Belgium, Gallipoli, Salonica, East Africa, Mesopotamia, Egypt and Persia. From the British Indian Army, over 53,000 were killed, 65,000 injured and 3,800 were missing or taken prisoner. A significant number of Muslims served in the British merchant navy, over 50,000 by the beginning of WW1. They came from India, Yemen, British Somaliland and other countries. More than 15,000 merchant seamen lost their lives, which included Muslims. It is estimated that 3,427 Indian seamen were killed and 1,200 taken prisoner. muslimwarmemorial.org/education/the-…

Toen waren we geen "probleem", he? Graag gedaan. I guess.

Would there have been such violence if all British people were properly educated about the “Untold Friendships “between British soldiers of all faith and none in the trenches of WWI. Just wondering.#Southport #RiotsUK

India was the crown jewel of the British Empire. The East India Trade Company (1757-1858) and the British Raj (1757-1947) was the main financier of the whole empire. Around 1.5 million Indian Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus fought in WW1 and 2.5 million in WW2. Economist Utsa Patnaik estimates that Britain drained nearly $45 trillion from India between 1765-1938 through a system of taxation, trade, and theft. British historians have consistently argued that the systematic extraction of India’s wealth and resources directly financed the Industrial Revolution, and underpinned the British economy for centuries, making it a foundational element of British "greatness". This wasn’t thousands of years ago. This wasn’t hundreds of years ago. This was less than 90 years ago. Go on, ask @grok or community note this post. So dear “patriots”, the ties between white Britons and those from the Indian subcontinent is very deep and historic — we’ve been inseparable since 1757! Who knows, South Asians may make Britain “great again”.

The Grande Mosquée de Paris was built as a tribute to the Muslim soldiers who fought for France in World War I. Within the mosque, there is a beautiful courtyard garden filled with various plants, including the enchanting wisteria which blooms every spring… A thread…

Over a million Indian troops fought in the British India Army during the Great War (1914-1918). I've cleaned this autochrome of Sikh & Muslim soldiers from the Punjab, taken in France 106 years ago by Jean-Baptiste Tournassoud. It is original colour from 1917 and not colourised.

Totally heartbroken to hear the news of #LordSheikh, who passed away today. He was an outstanding businessman, philanthropist, community leader, politician and a humble soul. What a sad day! He championed Muslims in the @UKHouseofLords. May his soul rest in peace. Amen
