What the world needs to understand is that, in Pakistan, the army through the biggest intelligence agency ISI (inter services intelligence) is carrying out "an unconstitutional political engineering process.'' Such a practice in Pakistan is an established fact that has been repeatedly documented by not only independent observers but also by those who belong to the ISI itself. Lt. Gen Asad Durrani, Retired, the ex DG of ISI himself, acknowledged and wrote about this fact besides many others. The above stated political engineering process includes the deployment of information operations, commonly called disinformation, through yellow journalism carried out by the compromised journalists and paid media houses. With the advent of social media, cells have been created in-house and through outsourcing to carry out propaganda and trolling of those who dare to differ and dissent. ISI has the special vetting powers to clear the promotions of civilian officials. This power directly influences the police officials/burecrats' careers. ISI uses this power to carry out their political engineering agenda. With the state apparatus at their disposal, ISI operates ruthlessly to silence freedoms of speech and protest. After completely muzzling the domestic mainstream and social media through blackmailing, bribing and brute force, the military junta of Pakistan, which works through the state apparatus, is now working to silence the dissent to their corrupt practices by those living abroad. Witch hunting/fishing campaigns against prominent voices of dissent abroad have been launched through misusing the international cooperation protocols. The entire practice of unconstitutional political engineering and muzzling dissent promotes fascism. If the world doesn't approve of fascism, then they also must not agree to the promotion of fascism by the military junta of Pakistan, trying to enforce their illegal writ over a country of 250 million people. Looking at the bright side, within the same military, we have a vast majority of officers who believe in the supremacy of the constitution and democracy. They are part of the silent dissent, which is what now describes the dominant majority of Pakistanis. These silent dissenters are the hope for the creation of a safe space for democracy to flourish in the county. At the end of the day, each county requires an army.
