You people don’t understand how significant NYSC is to many families. That’s why you think it’s cringe when some corps members get home and parade for their parents in their uniforms.
My own parents didn’t do NYSC. I was the first grandchild from both sides of my family to graduate from university and complete NYSC. The day I was coming back from camp, my mum was genuinely upset that I didn’t wear my khaki home. She wanted everyone in the neighbourhood to see me in my NYSC uniform. For months, she didn’t let me hear the last of it because of how pained she was.

This guy married an OS in ikorodu. She got pregnant with his baby and they started living together because he got her pregnant
He decided to use the money he intended to travel with to open a shop for her so she could have something to do.
He also told her not to associate herself with her former friends and clients because she was now married and she agreed.
She was 3 months pregnant when the issues started. He’d come back from work and he’d see people that he knows has slept with her in her shop. He’d also see her old friends in the same line of work.

My senior brother got angry because his wife refused to induce her labour.
They went for antenatal care last week. The midwife examined her and, based on the signs she observed, said the pregnancy was already at term. Their EDD from previous scans was between June 18 and June 27.
The midwife advised that it would be better to induce labour, but the wife said she wasn't mentally and emotionally ready yet since it's her first pregnancy. She asked if it could be done the following week instead.
Her husband became angry and left.
He said he doesn’t want an emergency labour in the middle of the night.

A not very long story
When I was preggy, my FIL insisted that I go to one woman’s place for antenatal and possibly for child birth.
The woman is a pastor abi pastor’s wife and a mid-wife
The day I went there, the road was rough, her bed was on the floor, in her house where she attended to women.
She’s was very nice and friendly, every Thursday I went there, we would pray, she will check my bp, give me some medicine if needed and holy water.
After some months, I wasn’t feeling comfortable, started having some weird dreams and the dreams translated that I needed to stop going there.
I spoke to my husband, he said no problem but his dad refused, saying the woman is a pastor and nothing can go wrong.
I stood my ground and said I will go to my parent’s house to give birth if that’s the case. I even told him that it’s the holyspirit that instructed me to stop going there.
I was sha registered to one small private hospital, closer to the house, with caring and friendly nurses.
On day of delivery I was dilating really slow, went in labour at 8am, and at around 5pm I was just 4cm, my water did not even break as it should, it was coming out little by little.
At 11pm I was about 6cm according to the doctor but water coming out was greenish, immediately the doctor told them to get me ready for a C-section. He didn’t even say anything to me lol.
After the whole thing I was just thinking, what if I was at that woman’s place, a lot of things would have gone wrong.
